While I prefer kik over WhatsApp because it's cleaner and free, I kinda like WhatsApp being paid and still growing much more than the free alternatives. This might be related to the ban kik had on Blackberry phones.

C'mon, apart from the glass surface you are describing a paper or a book. The iPad is hardly a strange format.

Events like hover (or swipe, or trying to scroll out of the box) are really good for the experience side of design. It's that leap of faith that works that sometimes creates such a special connection between the user and the interface. If o

That would be right if this was about platforms but it's not, it's about interaction. If you can't hover then why depend on it? Also, it's easy to add a touch event to do the same as the hover event, it's up to developers to do it. I was ju

When the iPhone was released I thought it would be the end of hover. I know that's what I think about when I see something like a menu which only works on hover.

I'd prefer if headlines weren't capitalised. The Moon is pretty unique, it's Earth's moon.

On the subdomains topic, on one of my sites I went the subdomain way for languages. Example: www is for english, de is for german, fr is for french and so on. The reason I did this is because I wanted Google to index the sites properly, in

It's ok, I could have been much clearer (but then I would also repeat what's in the article). I have the feeling people commenting here did not read the whole article or are just nitpicking, it's one of the best articles about the history o

Can't say we are saying anything much different but let's focus on what seems important. So there's a variety of ways to get rich and we want to know which one is easier: work for someone else vs start your own company. My point is that 99.

I believe pg meant there's a much larger percentage of rich people who were once part of a startup vs rich people that worked like everyone else. I'd say that's a fact right there.

I'd say the attention span nowadays helps in cases like this one. People will carry on and nobody will know about her in the near future. Hopefully.

In the UK, it has always been before tax with me. In Portugal, it depends: if you are on a contract then it's after tax, if you are not on a contract (think consultant) it's before tax. This happens because most people have no idea that the

That can be a really dangerous way of thinking if you apply it to everything else. It reminds me of when people define democracy as the will of the majority when in reality it should be the voice of the minority. Sure, we should aim to simp

I immediately thought about the first (?) releases Apple did for Windows: iTunes and Safari. Both were really bad but I have never seen software as buggy as that one new release of Safari that would crash if you clicked on any button. It's

How did you read that on my words? That's not even a good comparison. A better comparison was when the original iPhone got its price reduced by $200. It was a blow and Apple acted accordingly. If Siri were to be available tomorrow for iOS 5

Well, the selling point is definitely Siri, the only commercial Apple made for iPhone 4S is all about it. That's why I think it could be a blow.
