This was last year on windows server 2019. I say WUA. I don’t know what the current version of it is called. There are still problems.

Been there done that. I had a huge collection of Acorn and Sun computers. The burden of looking after and storing them was less than the joy that I had from using them. Eventually I sold them all and my life was actually better. There will

Sort of. Sometimes it goes wrong. I've seen a primary SQL Server go down because WUA took up enough CPU and interrupts to stop the cluster service health pings leading to a BSOD. This happened outside any schedule.

I don't think there's enough information to make that assertion there.

That’s how I did the AWS solution architect exams. Except it was hours not weeks before :) I spent the training course week on holiday.

Our modern software stack, processes and attitude leaves us with this sort of product. It's broken at every level.

Yes. To be fair the last time I flew it was clear that the packaging had more nutritional value than the food.

Well they sort of do already. There are armies of consultancies queuing up to provide packaged solutions far above the cloud infra level solutions abstractions that GDS offer. Those guys use commercial clouds.

I suspect this is half way to the truth. The Z mount lens portfolio is looking pretty good these days. At some point the FTZ will be the only F mount being sold. I sold all my F mount lenses last year finally. Despite owning a Z50 and a Z6

My Z50 and Z6 autofocus is pretty amazingly good. What issues do people report?

You’re right. Europe sold out a chunk of its high profile technology industry and never bothered to invest afterwards. Philips was the worst. They bought up every single electronic component supplier then sold it all to China. And let’s not

This pretty much nails it. Also nails why I folded my company and I’m a corporate wage slave now. I’d rather all this shit was someone else’s problem to deal with.

I don’t think that’s the case. I know someone who has no involvement in anything technical in his entire life and is using VPNs and torrents fine. He can surely work it out if demand requires it.

R4 controls the output impedance of TR1. It'd have to be high to keep the loaded Q of the L2 tank high. R10 looks like a mistake to me. Probably should be 390 ohms. Agree with your assertions though. It might have been reverse engineer

330uH is a pretty big inductor for FM/VHF. RV1 controls RF gain (think of TR1 as two JFETs, one a current source and one a common source amplifier in a small signal model). TUNE VOLTS changes the resonant frequency of the two tank circ

If it's anything like the in-person discussions I've seen on the matter it's not productive. I'm firmly polarised on one side and was happy to sit in the sidelines and not say anything on the matter in case I also got pu

This is simply a way of confusing the shit out of people even further in the middle of an inflation crisis while leveraging "the old ways are better" bollocks. Also Derek Norman is a criminal and should be locked up.

Yep. I would be 3x as productive if I was given hardware and software which was fit for purpose. I have actually been unable to work at all for 17 days this year so far due to stupid issues caused by poorly tested changes or having to wait

Very cool. At university I built a 4 bit stack based CPU out of TTL. It had store, load opcodes and could address 8K words of RAM so it had some actual utility. It was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever done. Annoyed they wouldn’t

Yeah aware of that. However I know someone who ran VHF repeaters out there because that was the only viable two way communications out there back in the 80s. He runs rural Wi-Fi now!

I’ve built AM crystal sets before back in the 80s. Fine if you have the space and materials for a high up long wire antenna or something. But absolutely hell if you have any local noise sources. I actually had a large inverted V trapped dip
