I will write up the 30 years of using MSFT stacks and OS up at some point. That’ll be 100% substance. But the salt will have to remain. If you want to see the real MSFT check out the dotnet team handling of the customer demands to remove te

That’s fine until it wont compile on someone else’s machine. Had that many times before with python. SciPy is a bastard on macs for example.

Can you fix raft when you get an election storm, unseal vault and have time left to rescue the princess in an hour though?

This made me laugh. Just want to bitch: Anyone can get a kubernetes cluster up in an hour. Very few people can get one back up that has blown up in an hour or can upgrade a cluster without downtime or can persuade terraform to do something

They’re the same asshats. With a thin layer of marketing veneer over the top, telemetry underneath all floating on a vat of poor testing, poor delivery and poor quality. I had a defect open for 9 years on connect that affected 20,000 users.

Typical Microsoft. Using their shit is like riding a schizophrenic donkey. I have been burned tens of times over the years and stuck with deprecated products and frameworks that were the official supported way of doing stuff on their platfo

I was about to bitch about the same thing. Connectivity rejection and acceptance are what sit in my head. I know people who reject connection yet are extremely technically capable. They just do not desire the negative sides of the connectiv

Yes that's me. I look at the pay cheque and it makes it ok. I do a lot of stuff that I don't hate at home though.

Crazy shit like this happens all the time. However assigning a cause is a little early. Years ago I wrote a firmware loader for an industrial Z80 system. All it did was read a file over the serial port into RAM, jump into it and then overwr

I have it. I use it with 6 people and we all use Apple Music, watch stuff on Apple TV and use about 1.2TB of storage for backing up 5 macs and 12 iOS devices. Two of us use Apple Fitness. Oh plus hosting 3 email domains. Works out fairly ch

Oh I love FORTH. Good set of articles here called Moving FORTH by Brad Rodriguez discussing the implementation of FORTH on various legacy ISAs. Worth a read to understand the internals and beauty of the simplicity of it: http://w

I'm not suggesting that we send ourselves back to the stone age. I'm suggesting that we stop shipping resources half way around the planet and then send the trash back because it's cheaper. The last 50-80 years at least has b

Same experience with RHEL support. We just didn’t bother in the end. We fix our own bugs or work around them. CentOS/Rocky has better ROI is better when stuff doesn’t get fixed on something you are paying money for.
