In addition to the hiring of an experienced CFO, mentioned already, in the run-up to an IPO you may see: - A cleanup of administrative processes such as HR. Standardisation of leave, expenses, release of a overly-detailed employee handbook,

While a mega-portal for all your digital needs sounds like a privacy nightmare - I can think of a few US examples where this was overlooked in favor of utility!

Both of these problems occur with regular cards too (liability shift & chargeback). Generally the bank will pay for transactions if your card is stolen. They also have checks in place to reduce the scalability of fake chargebacks by cus

It depends on the country but typically there is a set of central bank regulations which attempt to ensure adequate safeguards are in place when non-banks offer banking services. Example protection of the float for stored value wallets and

I don't think they are overhyped at all. I own a Mi4i, converted from a Nexus 5. My biggest worry was unfounded, I ended up loving MIUI. It is, in my opinion, way more usable than vanilla android and they seem to do significant updates

While true, assuming the collective mindset of an industry runs close to optimal just because its there is also naive. VCs themselves bet on industries being un-optimised! Plus in evaluating an industry you would need to see it in context.
