Call me cynical but I suspect that many old American's with money are not going to be too concerned about funding social programs. If anything I suspect they would welcome the cuts because of 'lower taxes'.

Jobs is a salesman. Not an engineer. An eye for aesthetics perhaps. Getting people to buy your shit is a necessary function for any business. For advice on actually making something, I'd consider Woz more.
