I'm pretty sure that finding the right place could have a huge impact on the success of this project. Maybe even having a group of 10-20 "tech" families willing to relocate to a small town could have enough power to negotiate

I don't think that it has to be hippie at all. There would be some shared areas, but people would live at their own homes. The company and the farm would be shared, but that's the idea. Guess that the whole twist would be to not o

Thanks for this information. Looks like CSA is a lot more common in North America than in Europe, but I guess there are similar solutions worldwide.

It doesn't have to be 100% self-sufficient, that's not what I meant. I was thinking more about a community of families living around the same farm and company.

I wasn't thinking about excluding non-tech people (my girlfriend has no tech background). I was just thinking about building a company with like-minded people with some technical skills and experience, while living together and working

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and this post definitely gives me some motivation. I'm a programmer who loves to code and build stuff, learning new programming languages and frameworks, discussing about architecture, e

Are you by any chance working in the tech industry + having a small farm? If yes, is it a viable lifestyle? Did you choose it or is it a family business? Sorry for the many questions, I'm curious because I've always been attracted

I don't want to blame anyone, that wasn't my intent. But how do I express my opinion, that passing a language from parents to children is the best way of preserving an endagered language? I ask myself how is your "grumpy"

I am a person who, as a polyglot, feels a lot of passion for languages, and can get really upset when I hear about languages that are dying. Guess you could compare the feeling with those of animal species getting extinct. I often ask mysel

I don't want you to see this as a personal attack, but isn't it your father's fault not having taught you to speak this "dialect" (which, I guess, is a language called despectively a dialect)?

Efficiency is one thing, being a douche is another. Programmers are still human beings and while they might tolerate some harsher comments, they still affect them. Efficiency yes, but not above all.
