That's a good point, I suppose I should focus more on the learning than the income for the first project.

I suppose my goals are a culmination of all of them. The end goal would be to have some nice passive income (i.e. $1000/mo) but that would likely be income from multiple projects etc. This specific post was about taking that first step

If you can spin out a cloud server in an instant, why can't you install and configure some proxy software in about 10 minutes?

Whilst this statement is true, the torrent predates the earliest versions of ffmpeg, so it wouldn't have been what was used (which was what the OP was asking).

I believe you're referring to http://www.blinkenlights.nl/services.html (or 'telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl', as it's more popularly known). On the authors bio page it says he started creating it in 1997.

If you're not technical enough to know what a VPS (dedicated server) is, you're not technical enough to run and maintain one. Important software updates need to be done, backups might now be your responsibility and whereas your sh

I'm trying to achieve currently what it seems you have already achieved. The problem is I cut everything out, but then there will be a moment at work where you're waiting for something (in my job for example, waiting for RHEL to i

Well that tells me I know nothing about business. A few weeks ago I was thinking of having my first go at buying shares and thought GoPro could be an interesting company to look in to.

I commented below, I agree with this completely. Graduates are drawn to where the money is, it's not students moving to London that's causing the migration, it's jobs bringing them here.

As a 25-year old that lived in Nottingham, studied in Newcastle and moved to Oxford to work as a Systems Engineer, this article is interesting, but it can simply be summed up as London and the South in general is where the money is. I went

Sorry I can't offer help, but I feel the exact same way. I used to love coding and so on, but my current company is pretty terrible at everything it does, but for personal reasons I can't realistically leave for a while. The only

Hey, I was toying with the idea of that, or at least adding something like storing the last 20 websites you visited in a session variable, to ensure you don't go to one of those again. I think I'll look at implementing this today.

I'm one of those people that has a service/app for almost everything I need or do: managing what I eat, sleeping schedule, finding new music, learning new skills (and practicing them), etc. My friend Mat is similar, so we decided

As someone who is fairly good at this (I spend a fair bit of time creating vectors of old motorcycles for livery design), I'm also intrigued to know.

Sorry for not commenting on the linked article, but websites that mess with scrolling really irritate me, almost irrationally. I'm quite comfortable scrolling, the innovation in trackpads over recent years has made it almost pleasant t

Wow, wasn't aware of how impressive that is. Makes me blush a bit that we have 1000 - 1100 customer websites (which don't get many hits) spread across 6 CloudLinux servers and the performance is terrible... (not that I have anythi

True but the amount of webpages I visit where the spinning icon never stops spinning, I don't really pay it a 2nd thought. An enormous image set to hidden would have a similar effect. Mind you I'm sat at home with a 300Mbps fibre

I'm thinking of doing what you're doing, but with Laravel. Let's say you have 3-4 SaaS sites all based upon your 'Core SaaS framework', when you make a change to the core framework, how do you manage this with your
