I really wish Steve would not have befriended Louis to the degree he has, but.. well. Or rather I wish Louis would limit the "bulldozing" persona to the context in which it is necessary instead of all contexts ever at any time. No

I'm practically certain that there was no ill-intent by LG when conceiving this feature. It was most likely just a convenience thing. But I am also practically certain, that, eventually, any pile of data will attract ideas you do not w

From my understanding of laws in Germany, in Germany, you're allowed to do all of this if your goal is interoperability of systems. If your goal is to not pay them money - which you strategically unwisely hinted at with this question -

Yes, I got that, but what I actually mean is that these criteria do not necessarily lead to good conversations. I know the kind of space you are referring to. I'm in those too. But my point is that they regularly disappoint me. Which i

Yes, exactly. Though, not by default. If something seems _odd_, I suggest looking up _why_ it might be odd. Gathering context, essentially. Like "Okay, this guy is weird. Aah, okay, LinkedIn says that he works there. Okay _now_ that ma

Same. (I would love to say, but they still get me way too often) I can also highly encourage people to keep notes and do some basic OSINT. The effective internet is smaller than one might think, so that proves useful time and time again.

You're putting a lot of trust into the judgement abilities of what is just a next token predictor there. I can see what the goals are there, and they do make sense I suppose, but I'm not confident that what you're handing off

My genuine question is: Are there any "skills" at all that have proven to be useful? And if so, what's the context? Because, for me anyway, LLMs usually do one thing, and that then produces a durable artifact. So the prompt t

I can see where you're coming from, and I share the sentiment and resentment to a large degree, but I think you might be not doing reality justice. It is true that closed weights models are a big issue. It is also true that LLM-generat

I mean there's a reason why we're doing MoCap for video games. If computers were good at this, we wouldn't be needing that. But actual motion and all seems to be much more complex than the systems can predict, apparently. Als

Huh. Can you elaborate why you view ND as increasingly important, whereas NC bothers you less? Because for me, it would be the exact other way round.

ND is usually a bit sad, as it makes the thing a dead-end. The magic of the web has always been that things would continuously morph through being reinterpreted and all, and that just doesn't happen with ND. I can of course see the val

Because "perfectly legal" and "socially acceptable" often diverge quite a bit. The world would be quite miserable if "perfectly legal" would be what everyone optimizes for.

I'd honestly rather like to use this opportunity to talk about that this is a success than returning to our regularly scheduled doomer loop. A rocket launched into orbit from Norway. That's insane progress and worth celebrating.
