This guy has reinstated my love of hacking binaries, we used to do this alot when we were rewriting memory of MMORPGs like Asheron's Call. Never thought about doing it for legitimate reasons.

How large is the tech scene down there? I've been wanting to move but only to a hacker friendly city (Sadly NYC is mediocre). Anyone know of some local websites for developers?

Damn I really liked this feature, most of my gems are installed from github ;( I wasn't quite clear what this means now, gemcutter is handling it? or Are we supposed to move back to ruby forge?

This buyout doesn't make a ton of sense. Hopefully adobe is buying it to make the flash integration better since ad tracking is so important and omniture never worked great with flash.

Haha I remember Brian from CNN he was talking about this years ago, I guess it takes a lot of momentum to change something as big as apache.

I think this less akin to thread pools, but closer to .net parallel extensions. A simple thread pool is still rather difficult to deal with, this also more fine grain work.

Question is do you have a sustainable model, once everyone buys your app you don't a new stream only from new customers. I just bought your app ;) just wondering if I have to worry about the future of it.

One of the dangers is most projects do get killed, and even if it doesn't you put more risk by not releasing it. Once its released and people are getting value from it the project is a lot safer position to put more effort into design.

Intensive technical knowledge, I wish he gave a bit of overview, its getting long. I'm guessing he figured out how to make it faster or he was just exploring it the bad driver code.

The epic gaming guys always have the most interesting presentations, they seem more up on more current software techniques like STM and functional programming, I don't hear a lot of other game companies talk about.

Slicehost is backed by a fairly large hosting company now, they always seemed more professional then linode. I used them back in the day and it always seemed like it was just one dude and he didn't have his processed automated well enough.
