Yes you’re wrong - it’s literally not paying back debt. It’s an attempt to appease stockholders because their actual financials can’t keep up, thus reducing the price of the stock, thus reducing the compensation packages of the executives a

If you think about it, three parking spaces take up way less space than 1 housing unit in LA.

People live where they have jobs. Jobs usually exist where there are people - new jobs can be created if some company or industry’s growth demands it. Amazon warehouses and Walmarts exist where there are enough people to justify it. Coffee

We cannot build windmills, solar farms, and nuclear energy plants overnight. We cannot stand up new buildings and create local food supply chains overnight. I was responding to the proposal to cut oil production by 50%-75%, which would be g

You realize that would cause countless death _today_ if you don’t replace the oil with something else? People will starve, become homeless, and maybe anarchy will reign. Not just in the developed world but globally.

Why do the British still think they have power to do dumb stuff like this? Their economy is floundering, their consumer market is small, and their government is a joke.

Most of their compensation does not come from salaries - especially at the exec level. Nor is Credit Suisse going down going to affect normal people or the greater economy. This is not a win for execs, this is a way to placate employees des

Yep that’s the first great use case I’ve thought of - looking through all the documents in a group and answering a specific question. Also can imagine multi step pipelines driven by answers to previous questions.

Hormones, appetite, metabolic diseases are all orthogonal to CICO. These can have an effect on how many calories you burn or how many calories you crave but at the end of the day, CICO is still law.

While I don’t disagree that nuclear is the ideal, this event does not prove that solar and wind is not enough. A properly implemented wind and solar system can most certainly support California. They just need more of it. Half of California

Given the UK is falling as a world power and consumer market, won't this just lead to all major tech companies pulling everything out of the UK? I can't imagine Google/Meta/Amazon/Apple complying with this bullshit.

Walking 5 miles a day can be done in an hour and a half and can burn ~250-500 calories. That’s half a pound to a pound of fat per week, which is pretty significant.
