It’s even worse for some people. They promote that they read it which gives them undue credibility for their unpalatable ways of operating.

There are time and frequency standards that people rely on for all sorts of things. This sort of equipment can be used to calibrate the current time and frequency standards. Also for high precision physics measurements etc. Clocks aren’t re

A hot drink in the morning is a good motivator and ritual. I think that’s the winning thing. I occasionally do hot chocolate instead which is equally as good thus the caffeine may not be required.

Anecdotes it is. Quit caffeine in 2015. I was drinking coffee and red bull constantly. Felt like crap for about two weeks. Measurably no difference other than bank balance. Did a crap action film montage in 2019 and went from lard ass to su

Yes it’s horrible. I actually miss the early 00’s when I did infra and code for small web design agencies. I actually could complete work back then.

I’m rather a fan of this sort of stuff but only with my middle finger firmly raised at the vendor. Electronic test equipment has been doing this for a long time. You can buy a base model item for $1000 and crack it to the $5000 part in thir

Less painful version: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1489798651375501315.html Edit: craziest mac I’ve ever owned was a graphite G3 clamshell iBook. Loved it.

So does dragging around all the accessories that you "need" to plug into your laptop. All I hear is the conflicting arguments: 1. I don't want to compromise on anything. 2. I want a laptop.

This. People need to buy a dock and stop whining. Or buy a desktop Mac in the first place and stop whining. Oh I need Ethernet -> buy a dock (or fix your shitty wifi network). Oh I need numerous USB devices -> buy a dock. Oh I don

Pinterest is one of those sites that really makes me want to strangle someone. It’s just an abhorrent walled garden of other people’s property.

I haven’t read the article to be honest because I’m lazy and slightly drunk but I have to agree with the title. You need to give people enough rope to hang themselves with so you have a tangible reference point in which to start an opposing

Linux doesn't have to tread the same path but there's no one behind it all waving a big stick when they go off track. Which is why we end up in a fragmented half baked mess every damn time and why I'm sitting here on a mac af

You can run any app on any platform. It's just going to be a shit experience. Apple want you to get 80% of the way there, then do the last 20% of tailoring it to the device. There isn't some magic unicorn toolkit which can do that

Yeh that worked out really well for the last two platforms who tried it… Microsoft produced apps that no one used because they were horrible on all devices. Apple conceded defeat and we have different interfaces on each device class.

Yeah tube dust is nasty. I’ll give you that. I barely ever use the tube now preferring to use overground trains and walk if possible. A lot of people don’t seem to know that a lot of tube journeys can be done in a few minutes on foot.
