"Eleven" is a bonkers good table tennis (ping pong) simulator - it's the closest to the real thing of any VR sport I've played so far. It's 1:1, but if you have voice chat on, it enables almost the same social exper

It's absolutely a thing, even in developed countries people will steal cabling for scrap metal, even if it's getting rarer. Copper roofs on very old churches are also commonly stolen for scrap value.

Yes on occasion, but I got a taste for it when I lived in the US for half a year, so... You can find it in the "American" part of the international foods section of big grocery stores here, along with pancake mix, root beer and Sk

There are even smaller png libs than libpng, try a stripped down stb_image for example. Wouldn't use that for user-supplied images, but since you control them all it should be fine.

It is absolutely done, it's just implicit rather than explicit. The simplest heuristic is to predict backwards branches as taken (loops) and forward branches as not taken, and it works quite well (though I think it might be more sophis

Actually, they mostly stopped doing that a while ago. There's a new piece or two every year but it's 99.9% standard pieces with the occasional new colorization.

What actually happened in most cities was that the trams were shut down, which was really unfortunate with hindsight.

Probably depends on the country. In .se for example with any bank you'll be able to buy ETFs that are index funds that invest in the US, Europe or Asia markets with a yearly fee of 0.20% or less. Those will give you pretty much what yo

Did you even try the subway network? That's how most people get around in Shanghai and it's top notch and definitely not a missed opportunity. Every large city will need a road network as well as a public transit, the difference i

Raising the timer interrupt to 1ms with timeBeginPeriod should still be less costly (with regards to power consumption) than a spin loop. But yeah it's all tradeoffs..

Mario 64 did it in 1996. For example that early level with the shipwreck, the music morphs as you go into the water and dive around the wreck. If you go out of the water again the music morphs back to the original form.

Pedantic correction: Daggerfall didn't use a raycaster, it was a full polygon engine (although with sprite characters). Its predecessor Arena did appear to use one though.
