Sorry but I do not believe this. The paper rings a lot of alarm bells. It provides very little evidence for the actual thesis it is trying to prove and provides ample evidence that seem related to the thesis it is trying to prove but in fac

Of course he knows what the results will be. He owns twitter. He has all the admin passwords to the server that runs the poll. The admins that run the server answer to him. The result of this poll will be whatever Elon Musk wants it to be.

Let me just point out the obvious, as it seems to be completely escaping many people on here. Now that Musk owns Twitter, he can make the results of this poll anything he wants them to be.

Yes. Once you get the hang of it, you will figure out where the dangers are and how to avoid them, and you can have a safe and prosperous fortress for ages. And without any cheating or exploits. The great thing about DF is that after the in

Actually airport security in America was much much worse before 9/11. I remember it well. It was mostly done by ex-cons in minimum wage jobs (see my other post in this thread), it was far more understaffed. The only "positive"

United Airlines Flight 93 crashed and everyone on board died. That does not seem like a problem solved type of situation to me. The TSA is far more accountable than private security contractors. In fact I really like the TSA, those security

This is very important to talk about. I think I still have issues from being bullied and I am in my 40s now. My issues are anger, but more importantly social anxiety and much worse social skills than I wish to have at this age. Just in case

Bullying as social correction is a very bad type of social correction. This way the social correction is done by the dumbest and most violent members of society in order to conform society to their vision. And then society grows up to becom

If this prevents one quarter of deforestation it would still be a massive help. Furthermore, the agriculture- lumber difference in deforestation is not that clear cut. When some disgusting criminal in Brazil cuts down a bunch of rainforest

Yes. It is not really that hard, if you consider how they have probably the best wiki of any computer game and a lot of high quality helper programs. If you alt-tab between dwarf fortress, the wiki and dwarf therapist, it is totally doable.

The crypto community is very much to blame for this. Initially, back when bitcoin was hovering about $1 per coin, everyone was talking about personal wallets, and educating people how the wallet was just a bunch of numbers you can write on

I am still not convinced that he did not steal the missing FTX client funds. So at this point it is not clear to me how much he lost or gained from this. I do hope the DOJ conduct a full investigation and trace where all the money went.

AMZN, GOOG, META, AMD, etc. did not really hurt ordinary people. When Bitcoin was shooting up it really kind of screwed up humanity by unexpectedly raising electricity demand and electricity costs.
