I've got quite a few projects that aren't "finished" because there are additional features I'd like to add some day. However, they are "done" in that they currently work for me. For these applications I ju

I think the disconnect is that these people have an Upper Class salary nationally (the student linked at the top), but choose (and I stress the word choose) to live a middle class lifestyle locally. For instance, with that upper class salar

It looks to me, with liquidation preferences, like the valuation the investors believe is probably closer to "all the money raised"+x% than the published "valuation".

Maybe it's just me, but it looks to me like things have been going the other "way", all your documents synced to a "cloud" and providing various interfaces to it (phone/tablet/pc...) What this looks like i

I've thought about this a lot, even thinking of running in a district with the plan of "all my constituents will vote on my web site, and I will vote what the majority wants for each bill before me." However, there are major

What I also don't get is people that seem to need constant churn on an open source project for it to be deemed "usable" or "production ready." Those people would go insane in common-lisp land, as most libraries have

Interesting they call out other services the USA is okay with that also provide encryption. I believe all the other services the provider can access the data. Except maybe SpiderOak.

Could someone tell me what this whole thing is about? From what i gather it is the following: 1. Users currently can monetize using contentID - any videos uploaded anywhere using their shit and they get a cut of the ads (if there are any).

Yes that is a real criticism against Waze. The thought is that the "show where the cops are" feature can be used by those who wish to assassinate cops (by finding them when they are alone I guess). The obvious conclusion being tha

Maybe I'm weird, but I think whether it works should be #1 concern over design/quality. I agree design/quality is a close #2 though. Also, perhaps you need more practice reading code. So you are not so reliant on a "TEST

I'm curious about the mention of shopping with a bootable usb stick. Has anyone else tried this? Where can you do such a thing? I'd be afraid of salesmen thinking I was "hacking" or something.

The nicest thing about Hledger and the original[1] is the extremely simple file format. It allows you to write your own pretty easily (especially if you stick to the very simple format of a bunch of transactions). I wrote one for my use [2]

I'm not sure you can do this. Isn't the point of the franchise that it's owned by someone else? For example, if McDonald's corporate opens a location owned by them, can they called it a "franchise" location?

My theory is similar. We are in a "rise-all-boats" bull run thanks to the injection of cash into the economy from the Fed. The few "Buffet-like" value investment managers are saying there isn't much margin-of-safety
