It also has to do with how legitimization works within the Chinese culture. Things with lineages and ancestors are more seen as more legitimate, and the Chinese (historically at least) are not above borrowing it. Related is the complex and

There is a lot missing in any translation of the Dao De Jing, because nothing really captures the various layers of meanings from the original. There are also some meanings that are made clear with realizations and gnosis (for the lack of a

I have a book on toxic masculinity on my shelf, and it is written as a deep exploration of psychology, archetypes, etc. The usual rhetoric I hear about toxic masculinity is very far away from the contents of that book. It is really easy to

I see even a metaphor of “overpowering”, “strength in numbers” as deeply problematic because it is indicative of paradigm and world view. This goes beyond signaling and messaging. It’s difficult to be aware of one’s own paradigm, let alone

I don’t see it as nitpicking so much as fundamental flaws with this approach. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this.

Characterizing competition as exclusively individualistic is I think, a very limiting and overly simplistic way to see this. There is such a thing as collectives and institutions being competitive. Both cooperation and competition is part o

Do you have some links to articles about this topic from the left? I typically hear this from the right and have yet to hear something from the left, and I'm curious about how it's framed and understood.

I have made use of tracing, metrics, and logging all together and find each of them have its own place, as well as synergies of being able to work with all three together. Cost is a real issue, and not just in terms of how much the vendor c

There are things you can do with metrics and logging that you cannot do with traces. These usually fall outside of debugging application performance and bottlenecks. So I think what the author says is true if you are only thinking about app

That’s weird. I use both logging and tracing where I can. And metrics. While there are better tools for alerting, metrics, or aggregations, it helps a lot in debugging and troubleshooting.

This is a good video on the specific design principles for guilds, from Canandian Permaculture Legacy at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLPUN2wGbwA And yeah, site analysis is where I would start: 1. "Where Am I?"

There’s a more thoughtful way of designing this. In the permaculture world, these would be called “guilds”. Species are selected with an understanding of canopy layers (so that plants don’t compete for sunlight and can still fill in spaces
