You might be right about all of this. RMS clearly does not have the same sort of thinking as a "normal" person and his bio Free as in Freedom even suggests he probably has some sort of mild spectrum disorder. Maybe he is less egomaniacal an

#1. You're confusing free as in beer and free as in freedom. Stallman cares about free as in freedom. You really want to go back and review this because you are clearly unfamiliar with the philosophy behind the free software movement. http

There's no official announcement yet, but the unofficial plan is to support Linux once the Mac version is out the door. They definitely want to do it.

The one thing I get kind of annoyed with Stallman at is that he keeps mentioning this Leemote machine he has, which runs free software even in the BIOS. He might as well say that he runs Linux on a magical unicorn. I have tried and never be

I don't think it's just passing value judgement on these companies to point out that they don't create any value or content of note. I see more and more of these startups every day that are basically dedicated to emphemera. There's a billio

I think the most obvious case where this might be wrong in Microsoft's case is the Xbox. The original one was a salvo against Sony into a collapsing market. The new one is maybe the best general use consumer set top box on the market. Roads

There are upsides and downsides, certainly. I don't think that say... the Guardian pages on Flipboard are ugly, though. They are simple and quite beautiful while still retaining the house style. They are still focused on reading, after all.

The bigger problem with Instapaper AND Readability for me is that you are still kicking designers and their intentions to the curb. This is why I still think these services will not be widely supported by content providers and they will flo

Every rating system is like this. Censorship is arbitrary. Check out the MPAA giving an R to Bully, a documentary about high school bullying targeted at high schoolers. Well, not anymore.

Great step forward for whom? Is it meaningful at all that the US State Dept is letting people use Chrome now? Is this going to push adoption of modern browsers in other circumstances? Remember, the State Dept has a massive group of people t

Yeah, I actually think that's the way to go if you don't like Rails, I was kind of joking. I am curious to see if there's enough passion for Rails itself that people would say, "no I want RAILS, even if it means making it something else" ra

Maybe it is, maybe it's not, but I don't think moving from technically incorrect to technically correct is change for change's sake. There's benefits to doing things by spec even if they are not immediately obvious. I think what you're sayi
