Then why compare Apple with these companies? Compare them with other systems integrators and product people like HP or Compaq or Gateway, etc. Apple does manufacture the most competent desktop environment available, even if the core is open

Yeah, I've heard this. What is it about the Nexus One that Jobs was so pissy over? The multitouch? All the phones have that now, and they even had it before, they just had it turned off to avoid lawsuits. I think the Droid came mutitouchles

HTC Dash. A horrible phone. I guess when I mean multitouch was inevitable, I meant as a technology and not necessarily on the phone. Yes, Apple did perfect that technology first, but I saw demos of multitouch on tablet-like devices years be

Multitouch was inevitable and demonstrated long before the iPhone. Mobile browsers existed long before the iPhone. What the iPhone did was have enough juice to run a real browser correctly. They did a good job on mobile Safari, but this is

As long as Apple keeps selling old FCP to those who need it before getting the new Final Cut up to speed feature-wise, I don't see the problem. If you stick with the same old, ugly codebase forever you end up with kludgeware like Photoshop.

I'm not sure the market even knows what the hell FCP is. If they start putting keyboards on the iPhones, then we can talk.

I'm not sure that there's enough free software developers that even have the expertise to work on something like FCP. If there are, then where's the GPL video editor that competes? Pro tools like that are still commercial only until someone

I'm biased by knowing how Google works. http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=java&cmpt=q The top searches involving "java" are download java, free java, string java, java script, sun, java sun, java code, etc etc. Even in Indones

I wish there was some way for the system to ban people if they submit their own blog posts. This is a non-study. The vast majority of people looking for "java" are looking for the programming language. If they weren't, all those links would

Yeah, I read it, and I keep hearing people saying it. I just don't know what it's supposed to mean. Are we saying gay people are going to be using pseudonyms on G+ to avoid harassment? I keep hearing this and I don't get the angle.

Okay, then don't worry about it and stop posting defending them. I find the outrage warranted. It's a personal thing and a lot of folks on G+ and on here just want to be the loudest about it.

There's cities all over America that were devastated by white flight, including my neighbor across the river, East Saint Louis. If you go to downtown ESL, the base architecture and infrastructure is really cool. It has these wide boulevards

Tell that to the folks living in downtown St Louis. We finally got a grocery store downtown last year. Not that it's a major city though.

Yeah, he's not wrong about this, but I also don't think that we have settled on what's best right now for developing big time interactive apps for web, which is why there's 40 thousand microframeworks right now. I do think this will start t
