I picked money when i accepted this job ( worked for a startup that i liked a lot ) in order to support my family. And while they are not depenndent on it that extra money is making everyone feel more secure.

I actually accepted this offer because of the money offered. I worked for a startup before which i liked a lot but they paid below market avg ( while being extremely profitable)

Not that "old" but shitty. Lots of spaghetti connections to a different systems. No documentation and none seems to know how it should really work.

The problem is you never know if it is going to be better or worse. My experience is that it is mostly the same everywhere. What changes is the paycheck, company logo and the faces

Yeah but you do not learn it by migrating the inherited legacy app you do not fully understand to a stack you also do not understand that well.

I think Docker cannot make money on its own. It's already too late for them to build on the hype as other companies captured the most critical customers / audience.

Fortune 100-500 run myriads of different software. Really your "avg" fortune 500 company cant be used as a benchmark.

Say goodbye to mediocre programmers; ai is around the corner to write your avg crud app. Serverless is going to significantly reduce costs that were needed to make mvp, prototype and so on. No sane business is going to rely on a single solu

Why not if the price is right ? The biggest obstacle for me is the need to register and create an account not the price itself.

Many developers think that they can integrate systems but it's often the case they have no idea. DevOPS in my opinion is a person that integrates and maintains various technical + non-technical systems / parts of the company.

Right. But location matters and in smaller parts of the world it is difficult to be picky.

I am still facing dilemma Java vs C#. I have to say I like C# more but there seems to be many more Java jobs than C#.

This is why I hate SW business and I am very picky about services / software I use. I really dislike companies undercutting competition with practices like this.

Why am I having the feeling that Docker Inc is being pissed about everyone making money off docker except Docker Inc. themselves ? This is not nice.

It's a sad thing because it's damaging serious businesses like telcos, banks, insurance companies. But I guess the wheel is still in motion and we can keep many people employed.

If you hire a sweatshop you should expect a sweatshop quality. In a lot of cases hiring these sweatshops (TCS,Wipro,Tech Mahindra etc) is just to save money that can be then paid as bonuses to useless managers.

It depends on what do you call small or medium-sized business. Besides the same question can be asked about "developers". How many mediocre / junior / just developers you need "in-sourced" ? More and more work

Like openstack or juju killed devops ? Like Heroku killed devops ? Naah...It probably will be for more than 10 years just good enough for prototyping your applications.

I find it ridiculous that someone sees this as an issue. I can't believe people invest time in changing things like master/slave to leader/follower.
