It is a "LOT" compared to "free" products. Defining a "LOT" in software is really tricky but I really agree with the part about a tool you use quiet a lot :-)

The funniest thing is no editor had delivered the whole package. 1) emacs is crazily extensible but hard to use. Uses hacks to get the performance 2) vi(m) is extensible, fast but also hard to use 3) ST is easy to use, fast but not that ext

You are underestimating emacs a lot (even if we talk about 30y ago)

But maybe the "problem" is the global economy itself. Is it really worth it to transport cheap chicken meat across the globe ?

It is an interesting problem for some nations / companies. With the USA and their companies China is one of the only viable markets out there to actually show any real growth (I am now excluding the domestic US market and EU). With tha

The problem is not finding a thing to sell. The problem is a sustainable growth model and revenue. You need to actually earn money to be able to re-invest.

I agree and I disagree at the same time. The problem is we did not find a solution yet to cope with the challenges of the next industrial revolution and the global competition. The way the economy is interconnected is so fragile that it rea

Our industry is hugely based on illusions and misconceptions. There are only few places on earth where people regularly rebuild the skyscrapers to build taller ones. The IT industry simply forces you to re-learn the same old paradigms in a

I would go with react just because it is more popular. Unless you are someone with free hand picking a technology that is more widespread (hence more in demand) is in this era the wise choice to make.

Not really. Yeah even if we would assume responsible governments and effective governance what makes you think that the money collected from taxes would not go to where it should not ?

Yea it is a bullshit situation. Western companies cant acquire chinese ones and chinese ones cant or wont acquire the western ones.

Honestly I do not know. There was an article not long time ago mentioning that Ruby is not popular in Japan because of Rails but because it is used in a lot of places like embedded stuff etc. http://engineering.appfolio.com/

Well we have discussed this in other threads already :-). That's the problem with Ruby in general that you can only solve certain problems with it. Beyond Rails, devops and some obscure embedded stuff they do in Japan there is not much

Yup exactly this. Many people fail to understand that what Tesla built already the Germans did not even start to think about. Sure they have a lot of expertise about building classical cars and engines no doubt about that. But TESLA is an e

RoR is special that it does one thing exceptionally well. And that is monolithic web applications. I do not know how you measure productivity no other stack comes close to RoR.

This is a huge bullshit article. RoR is not out it just is not sexy anymore and there are way more Java jobs than Ruby jobs. Bootcamps are businesses like any others and they only care about making money. Of course they ditch Ruby/RoR
