I feel ya, deleting whatsapp will not be great for my social life. Neither was deleting facebook, at least at the time when it was still being used. Whatsapp has inserted itself into the social fabric as a benevolent offering and now that w

There are different fully concurrent ruby implementations: truffleruby, rubinius, jruby.. they all suck at what ruby is most used for, running rails. Last time i tried cruby was 10x faster still. So in practice we glady throw more memory an

I think the biggest impact will be the loss of access to EU workers without hassle. I would have gladly worked for a company based out of the UK in the past; now I assume I am not welcome and can't be asked to find out what would be in

Switzerland is not that great either I believe. Looked it up last year, I could make ~1.5 times what I make now, but prices are on average at least 2 times higher than where I live now.

What is you point? The fact that humans have shit ethics does not mean we need not address ethics in AI. Especially if the AI is then used to justify the biases. And that comparison is completely ridiculous.

I use mailbox.org, pretty cheap, super focus on privacy, EU hosted etc. The web ui is a bit dated, but works fine

Not 100% sure, but I expect it asks the server if mail to an address is deliverable. I recently was doing some testing directly talking SMTP to a server and recall a special check command. IIRC it said it check if the server would accept ma

Not sure if I agree with the conclusion. maybe this is an issue, maybe times have changed. From my personal experience the 'stable' releases are just to slow to keep up with the demands on frequency of updates. To illustrate what

Yeah, I might have had unrealistic expectations when i bought the darter last year. I was just immediately disappointed with the flimsy plastics, tiny plastic touch pad and excessively bright rgb keyboard. Given that it is not that cheap,

I am not convinced by the value System76 adds. I love the idea of no intel me, not that is relevant here, and openboot etc. But the quality of their hardware (and OS) is just really not where it should be to justify the prices.

Main issue I always had with SUVs is the lights. They all have way to bright xenon lights. When you drive a sports car (I drove a fiat coupe & a mx-5/Miata) in the dark you cannot see anything when a SUV is behind you. Not to speak

Very cool concept to have compute and memory unified. On first glance, this seems to fall in the middle between GPU & CPU based computation, but this is ultimately a graph processor. So no magic computational-memory performance panacea
