How's ripping out and replacing existing infrastructure going to reverse climate change? Not to mention that CA is about to have a lot of electricity shortages that will likely necessitate the burning of gas to generate it.

As a PL Golang is very unremarkable and it does have a lot of special casing and a general lack of "orthogonality," in fact it reminds me of PHP in some ways. However, that's completely missing the point: Golang brought CSP i

Go is incredibly productive. Its primitive type system keeps me from bikeshedding, the standard library mostly makes sense, builds are fast, and yes, the builtin asynchronous IO means that I can write a C10K server without even trying. No J

It’s not snobbery, as a luxury car a Tesla is unimpressive. The styling and interior quality is comparable to a Mazda, not a Mercedes. I’m not a fan of the giant tablet for controls unless the car genuinely drives itself, even a generation

I'd say if it's timely content, e.g. you have a stream of comments flowing from the server to the client on a livestream then doing it all in JS is warranted, but the content has poor long-term value and indexing is pointless. Con

Yet. I think part of that is that cars are ubiquitous enough for you to able to buy a fully depreciated, reliable Japanese car for the cost of a decent ebike, we have some of the cheapest fuel in the world and everything is built around car

Totally agree with the premise that e-bikes are the most appealing option for urban mobility. I don't need a full workout when commuting and 250W of torque-sensing assist makes me, the average cyclist feel like superman. Just wanted to

If you need SEO and (to a lesser degree) performance, you're likely serving content rather than an application and likely could've done with SOR (a new moniker I've come up with, Server Only Rendering).

The point is that Bird is using an arbitration agreement between them and an end user to not have to pony up according to the terms of their indemnification agreement with the city. This has _0_ to do with whether the gentleman brought it o

I think the point everyone bashing on the dumbass guy is missing is that a contract between him and Bird is being used to more or less threaten him into dropping a case against the city, which is indemnified against Bird-related accidents.

Engines like the VW typ 4 in the 914 are probably not going extinct anytime soon, you can order a ready to go longblock fairly easily [0]. For larger cars, a GM gen IV V8 can be had with CA-compliant emissions out of any parts catalog [1].

You're the best kind of right (technically), that law doesn't even come close to applying here and yet the argument still stands. Broadcasting has been usurped, mass media is not delivered over ATSC, but over a variety of PHYs, wi

On one hand YouTube and rt.com are both websites... on the other hand one is the #1 platform for discovering long form video content on the planet while the other is a website, so it stands to reason that being deplatformed from YouTube is

I think it's at least partially about value vs (mutable) reference semantics in Golang's case and the hope is that the compiler will know to whether heap or stack allocate based on escape analysis.

The point isn’t that you need to do those things, just that the line is arbitrary, those on one side are precipitating the demise of our planet and those on the other are wackos, righteousness lies on the line itself.

Exactly, fundamentally it's a piece of cast iron, cracking and other failure modes could be attributable to defects, but warping generally means overheating of the braking system.
