For anyone looking for this in my comment, I edited it out as it didn't add anything to the point I was making and I didn't want to come across as overly negative.

You mention an event in 1932. Aren't you forgetting that several years later, millions of people were wiped out systematically and there were reports of it coming back and they were largely ignored. We have greater than ever communicat

The anecdotes here could be used to justify a range of different theories: 'Being Daring is the Secret Ingredient for Success'; 'Innovation is the Secret Ingredient for Success'; 'Not Giving Up is the Secret Ingredient for Success' 'Giving

I'm from the UK, recently moved to work in Germany. The tax is high by the standards I'm used to but the infrastructure and quality of life is much better and things are much cheaper to buy (food, rent & many household goods). There are

You've picked on the worst-off countries in western Europe, but tell me about the best-off like Germany or Scandinavian countries. As far as I can tell, they have pretty generous social welfare schemes but are pretty sound economically. How

It reads like the parent got brought in as an expert in D, not Q, and then got told to work on Q, which wasn't their expectation. You'd be unhappy at that happening to you, right?

I'm not sure your refutation of the second point holds. The OP is talking about percentage of an individual's income, not the percentage of overall income. The fairness of either can be disputed but you're making an apples to oranges compar

Interesting the point you made about US TV shows - it's very subjective but I'll say honestly I can't stand them. I'm from the UK and think it's something to do with not being able to relate to your culture as well as you do, and so I find

That might be fun for a lot of people. You might say, "they should be enjoying the moment, not artificially posing for photos, blah, blah, etc, etc..." but it's probably just not your idea of fun. EDIT: Think I'm trying to say that showing

I was told a story of a body of students who wanted to protest something in W. Germany in the '60s (I am recalling this from a night spent drinking so I might have every detail wrong!). As I recall it, instead of taking to the streets, they

There's also a food culture there and alcohol gtts consumed with a meal, whereas in the UK people scorn having food when it takes up drinking time - "eating is cheating" I've heard from many a folk.
