Eh, this is true of start up business ideas, but not necessarily true in an enterprise that has hired a bunch of doers. Vision is rare and important.

Then the politicians who wish to ban guns should do it through the front door and propose a constitutional amendment. They won't do that, because it won't pass because there is nowhere near the level of consensus in the country t

Well, yeah. Given that you consume resources, there's really no way to just be. You need to be productive. That doesn't mean that you have to write code, just do things that have value for other people.

I don't understand why we want a society where everyone is trying to both parent and work full time. Specialization is a powerful tool. Speaking personally it makes a lot more sense for my wife to stay home and have primary responsib

I think it's easy to blame others, but programmers are optimistic by nature and bad at estimating. Also, I think all of us have had the opposite scenario where a request comes in from a business-minded person that they think will take

The only way out I can see is to make government small enough (or homogeneous enough) that one's opinion doesn't matter much. That's the way it was in America for much of the 20th century - there wasn't much difference

That's a real problem. Wealth and income are radically different numbers for people at the top end. High income taxes end up punishing the upper middle class instead of the truly wealthy who own assets.

Indie Game: The Movie is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. The cinematography is amazing, and they tell a great story about each of the dev teams they follow. Definitely worth a watch.
