I just tried a 11 character password without special chars, that I’ve used on over 50 sites, over the last decade. It’s my password for throaway websites. Some pretty dodgy. Not in the database. Makes me feel pretty good about password secu

What about the other DAG technologies like the one used by ByteBall? I’m not crypto-intelligent enough to analyze them but could DAG be a credible replacement for the blockchain? Iota is just a very well marketed option in that space. Thei

1) Video game humor is typically way worse than the humor in non-interactive media (interactivity has a price). 2) Humor evolves/improves over the years Combine the two, and you would be hard-pressed to find ANY game that old which is

FYI, I couldn't even get it running because "hasuractl.exe local start" is not a valid command with the version of hasuractl (0.1.12) you have available for windows on this page: https://docs.hasura.io/0.14&#x

Honestly I don't mind. A document API with a little manipulation on the front-end would be fine, as long as the back-end has some way of running through the relations. A SQL-ish API might even be better, although I can see some pitfall

I’m still looking for a product that provides firebase-levels of ease of getting up and running (no API to design, rule-based authentication, etc) , but runs on your own infrastructure, off of a traditional RDBMS. Someone tell me they’ve fo

Views don't have to be binary like "it's a hoax" or "the end is near". In between those 2 you have stuff like: - World may be warming but I don't believe we should act yet - World may be warming bu

For people mourning the loss of rethinkDB, and who are interested in alternative document based NoSQL DBs under development, please checkout ArangoDB. It's my favorite NoSQL database. I have no affiliation with them. Beautiful query la

I would have guessed the same, just by amount of splash RethinkDB had on YC compared to Arango, but the truth is I MUCH prefer ArangoDB. Their AQL is a beautiful replacement for SQL. Javascript style query languages are what I hate the most

I'm not a mathematician, but I find it unsatisfying that the solution to such a simply stated theorem requires 100s of pages of mathematics. Would have been cooler if the proof was extremely simple to write out, but required outside-th
