Noticed a few too. Like the fact that Scott Chacon wrote a book on Pro Git, not GitHub itself (maybe that's in the works).

I'm a big fan of style guides, and I plan on advocating their use on any projects that I'm a part of. They make it easier for full stack devs like me to be productive without having to delegate every small thing to a designer or rely on eve

A lot of the folks that I referred to are actually independent consultants, or switching consulting companies regularly. That phenomenon transcends the typical consulting firm loyalty and is more of a culture around Microsoft products.

In the .NET ecosystem, there's a number of individuals that enhance their own self-promotion by hitching their wagon completely to the Microsoft train. They present themselves as "experts" and justify high hourly rates by presenting their M

See Ken, I'm not the only one who thinks you're nuts! ;) If anyone needs an awesome Unix Devops guy that is also a kickass backend Ruby engineer, hire Ken and let him work from home so he can have more time with his kids.

I've worked on systems that have checklists tied to charging systems where the nurse practitioner is expected to record charges for every procedure as they check it off while caring for a patient. These "charge codes" are standardized acros

Excellent read, but unfortunately a little lacking in terms of solutions. I've found myself in this position a few times, and in general, it was more likely to happen in Sales-focused organizations where non-technical sales people were all

I've done three stints in Healthcare IT, and I can tell you the biggest challenge you'll have is getting your software in the door. Most providers won't talk to you unless you build on top of platforms they already run (Epic, Cerner, Eclyps

There's still a lot to be excited about. Here's just a few things that excite me: * Programmers are building and financing viable products on their own. * They're deploying to the cloud because it's cheaper and more approachable for the lit
