As I understand it, the IntelliJ version you can keep using forever is the one from the beginning of the subscription. So while the subscription was valid, you got upgrades, and then if you don't renew, you have to downgrade. It

Actually, I've used PaperWM for a bit (a Gnome Shell extension), and that one puts windows next to each other and scrolls left and right between them. (Each window is full height but not necessarily full width.) I find that very nice

I think GP was talking about internal software. Since business requirements are prone to change a lot, don’t blame the developers that the software needs to change.

"cu" was before my time, I've never used it. But it's still there on my Mac. I can never remember whether "bc" or "dc" is the program I want when I think I might need a little calculator.

Outlook has a setting to automatically capitalize the beginnings of sentences. I turned that off. But it's been long ago, I forgot where that setting is. But I recall it was near the setting that enables smart quotes.

If you can't mutate, then all parameters need to be passed to the constructor. With the builder pattern, there is only one call of the constructor. But I still find it to be a pain if there are a lot of parameters. Maybe with named m

I guess that Linux `/proc` is different from Plan 9 `/proc`, and Linux `ps` is different from Plan 9 `ps`. So maybe yes.

I wish I could find (or create) a working LSP setup for the Java code base at work. It consists of multiple projects, tied together by a Gradle build script. IntelliJ just groks the build.gradle and Eclipse can also import it. Is there an

It's unclear to me how the addition of classes to Javascript has made it more functional. Is this a bug in the article, or am I missing something?

I guess what was meant was to check both settings, i.e. both the default Mac scrollbar behavior and the "Always" behavior. After all, the initial sentence also didn't imply checking _only_ some other platform.

Here on hn, I read several stories where smart TVs did exactly that: they tried all available wifi networks to see if one of them worked. It doesn't seem so far-fetched that the Kindle might, too.
