I’m surprised about the map thing, too. The period also has two meanings and nobody complains. Compare 1.3 with a.b — same character, two meanings.

Silver searcher and ripgrep can ignore git-ignored files very easily. Don’t know how to do that with grep. Fzf gives you a list of hits that you can go through to select the one you want. Ctrl-r in bash just shows you the current hit. Those

I’m not an expert but my understanding is that modern JIT can be faster than ahead of time compilation because the JIT has runtime information, so you get profile guided optimization for free. Warm up takes a while but then it can be very f

> you do something right or don’t do it at all Down that path lies madness. The Boy Scouts rule is to leave the camping ground cleaner than you found it. It doesn’t say the campground has to be spotless.

I used to love tiling, but now I use lots of applications that are heavy-weight and graphical, and it seems more fitting to arrange the windows in such a way that strategic corners "peek out" behind the front-most application. For

I think the point of AbstractSingletonBeanFactory is not the length of the name, but what it does. More specifically, on how meta it is what it does. You can have a bean. Great. You can have a bean that's a singleton. Also great.

I once had to connect to machines regularly where I did not have a home directory. This happened so often that I wrote a wrapper to log in: It would log into the remote machine using Expect, then it would send a command to the remote end t

I have a 4K Display on a Mac and I decided to go with 4x scaling (1920x1080) so that macOS can use Retina. Much sharper. My colleagues go with 2500x or so and I don’t understand how they can stand it.
