Replying here because I can't edit my orignal comment. But I stand by what I said -- in the pathalogical case all of your keys map to the same bucket, and you hit O(N^2) or O(N log N) behaviour (depending on what exactly happens within

My understanding is that from a purely theoretical point of view you can call the operations Θ(1), but not O(1) -- since the worst case must account for the pathological case.

hash map worst case insertion/search is O(N) so this is potentially worst case O(N^2). IIRC a typical implementation would be more likely to be O(N log N) for some high log factor in the limit, but still worse than O(ND). And this is b

Another alternative, visually select the region you're interested in then: :'<,'>normal @q to apply the macro (in q) to that region. You might want to remap the above command to some shortcut if you find it useful often

Yeah, the cost-value benefit of learning touch typing will vastly eclipse the cost-value benefit of learning intermediate vim, that's for sure.

I still recognize that name/handle and I haven't logged into ##math for ~10 years, so I can certainly corroborate what you're saying.

It's coincidentally pleasing that the cutoff `d >= 1729` is the Hardy-Ramanujan number.

At least for universities this isn't correct. Oxford and Cambridge are just as high calibre as the top US institutions.

For comparison the c++ looks like this: #include <stack> stack<T> st; st.push(value); auto value = st.pop(); I'm struggling to see what's a million times more appealing about the go.

1-indexed ranges can still be composable if we define them as open on the right at N+1 (which is how I imagine one would want to define things in their implementation). [1...N] = [1...N+1) = [1...K+1) + [K+1..N+1) So the real loss is your p

In this case the terminology is by way of, roughly speaking type theory <- domain theory <- category theory Perhaps one can draw a link from the latter to the operators in electromagnetism.
