I am naive, but it is crazy to me that we experience outages of any magnitude like this from any major supplier (GOOG/MS/AMZN). I get alot of crap for being crotchety about making my backups in and out of the cloud, and it's

In the most altruistic sense, I would love to believe you. Things like the VA, the FAA, the USPS all point me to Milton Friedman's 4th quadrant of spending money. Quality does not equal efficiency or price.

I worked in an ad agency in the nineties that had a cocaine and amphetamine tidal wave going through it. I never realized the number of seemingly high functioning and reputable people that are utterly addicted. I don't love the articl

A giant graveyard outside Sweetwater, Texas. It's a blight in every way. You cannot recycle this stuff.

It's hard to read this as an anon, with experiences I would like to share but can't. This path, while non-standard, can fix things in you that are non-standard. I do respect opinions that say that going it alone is not ideal, howe

I politely disagree with you. Landings in an aircraft that you have flown for any length of time are not all that hard. In many cases I have been in aircraft that "land long" so as to not have to taxi 3 miles (literally) to get to

This is cool tech and there are new players entering this field with even better capability. The Clinton era laws of optical resolution restrictions seems silly now with this tech in the commercial marketplace.

Every now and again this pops up on a different forum. I wonder how much is actually hand soldered any more vs. pick and place machines with SMT.

Unpopular opinion? Facebook moderators are not the "heart of the business". Now, they should get better treatment but let's be realistic here.

I am the worst case of insensitive behavior, and I will admit that when I read a female resume with those words I think "oh man, she is going to come in a pantsuit and try to make me feel like I am not doing to dominate her". Whic

I was a die-hard Winamp user for years. Anytime I got a new PC and uninstalled the bloatware, the first of a few apps installed was Winamp. But in recent times, I don't use it much. I'll turn on Radio Paradise now and again, but a

I know I am way oversimplifying this. Last week I made a trip to sand hill road and had some fun. My most interesting takeaway from the trip wasn't any of those meetings, it was the many signs along I-5 between LA and SF. Yall need wat

In the summer of 1987 I mowed yards 7 days a week, 4-6 hours per day to earn enough money to buy an Amstrad PC 1512. I was 10 years old and when I finally got to unbox it and power it up, it was the most exciting thing that ever happened to
