I’ve only used blender for a weekend or two but the controls are very strange compared to unity and unreal. Are other 3D modelling and animation programs similar? Seems really slick for power users but hard to dabble with

People online talk about lumberyard being frustrating to use and in-progress on several fronts. The docs are better than unreals at first glance but the community isn’t massive so I’m not sure how easy it would be to debug any issues that c

Think of how much extra software engineers get paid because of how difficult it is to do simple things. If it were easy, you wouldn’t need a whole team for a crud web app. If everything didn’t break from updates constantly, you wouldn’t nee

Good point. You could still import your backups into a replacement after somebody else resumes the project. Many apps don’t even offer backups or export. Supermemo.com incidentally did not at the time I moved away from it years ago

If you get the melatonin strips that dissolve on your tongue, you can cut them into 1/8ths and the dose becomes more reasonable (0.3ish instead of 3mg) What you said about adrenaline in the morning - very interesting!

Imagine it’s a web or iOS or Android app. Imagine that you put 10,000 cards into supermemo.com and they took it down because of some legal dispute with another company. I have about 15k cards in anki for this reason: I’m not at a large risk

Another huge benefit is that the foss software won’t just disappear if the company has a bad quarter. If the maintainers or developers leave the project, in a pinch you can make a bug fix yourself or at least legally preserve a copy of it.

In this situation, what does disrupted circadian cycle refer to? Somebody who cannot sleep when they are tired and needs a lot of coffee in the morning? Or somebody who gets woken up a lot?

Has anyone dabbled in Fischer’s chess 960? The idea was to semi-randomize the starting position each game to prevent players needing to memorize a huge body of openers. Kasparov’s response iirc was “...let’s not pretend that research is not

It pays off in interviews to drill that stuff. If you want to be good at your job though, you just need to write a lot of code and understand design and architecture. The best book on this I read recently was “game programming patterns.” Iv

That’s interesting: a lot of releases seem to sell up to 2-3x more in console than pc, but approx 60% of their sales are for pc. Is that because of Covid, or is it a trend?
