Great work. Very interested to see what you have going on the firmware side.

Nice article. I'd suggest for anyone making the transition into management (particularly from a more technical background) who is after some concrete advice - start by reading 'High Output Management', and getting a subscript

I agree strongly with these comments. I used template heavy C++ back in the late 1990s, rolling container classes implementing smart pointers it was tricky to get good code compatibility across a range of compilers: Edison Design Group, icc

I think there is enough info to do a jit_vpu_raw.c, which could be a fun project!

The screenshot for Meteors appears to be Meteor computer game for BBC Microcomputer and not the original Meteors arcade game.

The ':' is optional when followed by a directive. "Loop" is also a valid label on at least say MASM 5.0, just need to use /w0 to suppress the warning.

Definitely detected that in my travels - diabolical surgeon golfers ring :). I learnt to ask them what handicap they play off.

Incase you find this useful: Just lying in hospital bed here about 36 hours after 2nd revision on a THR first done in 1987. In the absence of clear public metrics I used the following approach to choose my most recent surgeon: 1. Age/e

Terrific release, thanks for all that hard work! (Who would have thought! well that crazy dataflow stuff actually works... :)

For those interested, as far as I understand it this release doesn't include VPU or QPU assembler tools. We released a QPU assembler at https://github.com/hermanhermitage/videocoreiv-qpu/blob/mast... a c

I doubt the redomicile will have an impact on their product quality. I'm a customer of OnDemand for better or worse, but their products have been in a death spiral for at least the past 3 years. Poor performance with their cloud base

Apologies if its bad form to post a reference to my own github. The VPU documentation is now at stage where enough instructions are described to do useful work. I am about to begin writing up a set of tutorials for beginners who want to lev

Most statements of 'privacy policy' ate usually statements of anti-privacy or retention and sharing policy. A true statement of privacy would demonstrate that no information is recorded in a durable manner and that no information

The whole 'privacy policy' thing is a an fantasy that simply doesn't exist in international law. Its two words that provide the illusion of following some process of decency without any obligations whatsoever.

This is just a placeholder for those who haven't had a chance to read the book recently - I know lots of us are too busy with code or design to read as much as we would like.

I simply tell them billable time for support on old projects is rounded up to 4 hour blocks - this is with or without a retainer / support agreement. This covers switching time (pulling up virtual machines, getting your notes out etc, find

Not sure about python or web work, I mainly do C/C++/hardware/Security/Performance. I think Python+web sort of projects would best be charged as a whole or page-by-page / feature-by-feature. ie charge by outcome. Its hard to build a case

I make a half day the minimal billable unit for support of old projects. This helps control the problem of odd hours popping up here and there. For companies that send you around the place internationally, I charge full days for internatio

Choices is countable, so thats "fewer choices" not "less choices". Breaking open 150+ might be useful in some countries. Where I am, basic consulting would get someone $500-$750/day. With 5+ years experience in a language/library that would

There are two major programmable parts to the GPU - the Videocore CPU (VPU) and the shader processors (QPU). The VPU is dual core with a 16 way SIMD integer unit with a 64x64 byte vector register file, and 32 register 32 bit scalar register
