A Cirrus is an easy plane to get behind in. Jumping from a C152 that putters along at 90kts leaves you with a lot of time to work the checklists. When I started flying the high performance aircraft it was really easy to miss things becaus

Man I love that game. It has a very clever automation/sensor system as well. You can rig doors to open if they sense water, heat, gasses, pressure, and a bunch of other criteria. Wiring in NOT/AND/OR gates. Timers.

And.. even finding a VR headset at MSRP has been a real challenge. The wallet was willing, but the inventory was weak.

I've really come to miss the whiteboard walls. While we have digital tools, getting a couple people together and white boarding was super effective. The quality of my office at home is way better - large screens, comfortable chair, a

These things are super fun. I use one to track airplanes and weather in flight with the stratux project. ( http://stratux.me ) It pairs the USB radio receiver with a raspberry pi and broadcast the location of ADS-B equipped aircra

I'll find out myself. Just got handed a codebase that is a mix of Python/Gunicorn/node when this sprint started off. I've seen the word gunicorn in the repo... but still don't know what it does yet. First time for

I'm in a similar boat. I planned to swap out my 1950x with the 39xxx series threadrippers and got bit by the socket change. The older i7 3930k was swapped out with a 3900x while we sorted the new hardware... and I'll be damned,

The kicker is they reuse the SSNs. Had a gig where I was working with the 'death master' files. (It use to be much easier to get your hands on the files - https://ladmf.ntis.gov now) and it would list every SSN numbe

Noise is a thing. I went back to the classic open loop water cooler on my threadrippers. The RX480 (130 x 56 x 518.5mm) radiator is complete overkill for keeping a 1950x cool - only have 2 of the 4 lower db 120mm fans even plugged in. I&

Yup, you got me. (US) The temp gauge on our outdoor grill is in Fahrenheit, so ~260C for the rest of the world. When I say grill, I'm talking a propane based patio cooking surface, with lid. One of these sorts of things: https:&#x2F

The snapshot options are much better in fusion, for that solo workflow, then stock virtualbox. I suspect vagrant covers those gaps. Long running (and pausing) VMs behave better on fusion. I see better stability when pushed hard. Better u

The screen and the track pad are the best out there. From a coding perspective, the Mac is one of the few 16:10 ratio screens still out there, which means you get a bit more vertical height than 99% of the other 16:9 ratio resolutions. Wh

I run VMWare fusion on my Mac for virtualization. Being able to bump the Linux desktop to what the full retina screen can handle is glorious (though I had to fiddle with sizes on the terminal to find something that my eyes could work with)

We like doing pizzas on our grill, which can get to 500F+ easy enough. A cheap pizza stone works really well on there and has a bonus of not heating up the house in the summer.

I updated a six core i7 3930k with a sixteen core 1950x threadripper on one of my boxes. Biggest reason for the update was the disk IO (m2 drives) and number of cores and I'd had the 3930k since the launch day at Microcenter. On Wind
