Wow and yes that must have been a surreal moment. Your anticdote gives me hope that I'll find my missing scene!

Thanks for the recommendation--I'm listening to it now and enjoying it. It's inspiring me to want to create my own simulation in R. This was a good quote: "if you think things are static, you aren't looking big enough&qu

I'm listening now and enjoying it. Very relatable as I have an 80s horror movie I saw one scene of when I was a kid and I still have not been able to find it. Haunts me to this day. A family is outside all afraid and some force is tugg

The Portal with Eric Weinstein is my favorite. Very information dense and each episode is facinating. Though he's releases them very sporadically.

Kettlebell. I don't have a lot of time, but 15 minutes first thing for me makes my whole day better. And I personally enjoy the whole effort.

I see #13 (human expertise) crop up the most often in the complex systems at my work. I think the two main reasons replacing experts is so hard is (1) it's inherently difficult to understand another's work you haven't built f

I would argue that while this type of visualization is good for data discovery, it demands too much cognative load for the average audience, at least where I work. YoY line charts or even bar graphs though mundane, require no extra mental e

Thanks, this might just motivate me to dust off my old Kindle. I recently started doing James Clear's habit tracker and now would love to find a way to track my habits on my Kindle if possible.

This is why I love bugs, especially the sporadic ones--often you grow in understanding of the underlying system or code as you solve them.

When I'm tempted to procrastinate on something important I add a 15 minute block to the calender and force myself to do the smallest unit of effort against the task. Often I find it's enough to get the ball rolling. I use a simila

Thanks, I really enjoyed this. It brings me back to my Digital Logic Design class where we needed to construct the truth tables for a digital clock for our final exam.

The article mentions they use DNA testing to determine the sex and also that it's tough to find usable DNA samples. Could it be possible that male fossils are more likely to have usable DNA and thus bias the results?

I recently found out the power of #27 (habits > motivation). I've been doing James Clear's habit tracking for a few weeks and see a big improvement in my life, especially for studying and exercising.

I like the concept of divergent and convergent phases of life. This reminds me of a professor I had that said the arc of knowledge went "from thin to thick, then from thick to thin." Meaning that you started a course with no knowl

Enjoyed this article thoroughly. My last name is a common object and only four letters, and so you would think easy to spell. However it gets butchered quite often--perhaps because people want it differentiated from the common noun.

Anecdotal but I pushed this number to the limit with 5 kids (went for a 4th and had twins). Our pediatrician said (subjectively of course) that she found her happiest families had 4 or more kids. Not sure why that would be the case, but we
