esbuild and TS are a good step you can take incrementally as you move away from webpack/babel. Still the lesser of some evils, but less evil is better.

Or queues, graphs, or other chaining behavior I can't predict you'll need as a tool author.

Right, I'm with you. I think maybe the whole "we should all version the same way" thing probably isn't the right answer to "how do we know when it's safe to upgrade" question.

That was my very first encounter with anything hacking-related. Such a thrill. Before that the computer was a black box full of black boxes.

Do you think that's appropriate for React Native? Many of the others on their list of notable projects would probably be considered "production" quality if you asked the average dev and didn't mention the version number

I'm familiar with intentional constraints on art... I don't personally enjoy that but I'm not against it, the way I would be against simplifying the entire language or choosing to work in one solely for its regularity.

My emotional outbursts can easily be thousands of words. There's no way to actually express emotions on Twitter. I suspect that's part of the reason for all the images and memes and links to articles. Edit: and bitter arguments.

Or it'd give us way more options for clever poetry and songwriting. Which tends to make us better and freer thinkers. The weirder your language is, the weirder art you can make with it. The more the audience understands your nuances, t

I'm happy to get people unstuck. It's the best for everyone and the company. I hate when a "growth hacker" moves a meaningless metric an insignificant amount and gets a bonus so some middle manager can get up and claim a

The healers are usually the best players. They'd be better at DPS but everyone wants to be DPS and demands heals constantly. Source: was a priest in WoW back in the day. Because nobody else wanted to, not because my warlock sucked.

Not what I'm saying. I'm saying there are plenty of terrible engineers coasting and this will catch them. Edit: I've been top of regular productivity charts AND the unanimous answer to "who do you go to to get unstuck?&q

Flip side: engineers who curry favor without delivering value can't hide it quite as easily. Those who do their jobs without sucking up have a chance for recognition.

Sure. But it's a double edged sword. "You should wear your mask" is getting downvoted (edit: I'm using the term loosely here, I hope it tracks) across the country and responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths. We n

I still think Plato invented Socrates. If Socrates was so wise, why did he get himself killed in such a dumb way? We know today you can't just go around telling powerful people they're wrong.

I'm talking about much more than climate change. Failure to cooperate, anti-intellectualism, and innate hatred of each other (among other flaws) are what will sink us.
