The truth is it took us 80 years to get into this mess, it will probably take 80 years to get us out of it. Hopefully technology can provide a path.

I told you, you are symptomatic of the short-termist attitude that persists - we must carry on whatever the cost. The alternative is that you make do, because this is a serious situation, far more serious than a business deal. Ironically,

This is very simple, but something most of the HN people won't be able to do. STOP FLYING! Passenger numbers have gone up in a step change with CO2 count over the last 50 years, contrails compound the effect. The sad thing is - you wil

Personally tired of hearing the word 'record'. It's pretty obvious that every year is going to deliver new records. Why don't we/NASA start reporting on the effects. Then the denialist argument becomes moot. Perhaps

The news services wont report this because it's not an immediate threat. This surely is a case now for stopping flying. If everyone made a conscious decision not to fly, be a bit inconvenienced, this would lessen the chance of this and

Fatal problems that hit start ups seem left-field, but they are baked into the design choices we make, often without discussion - because they seem part of "current accepted wisdom". My major issue for startup software development

There seems to be a lot of negative press around the rise in value of Bitcoin. The FT's article - comparing the market cap of Bitcoin to the trillions of dollars traded in fiat currencies - was shameful. Bitcoin is not a country it is

I can't be sure why you are lying in the road struggling to breathe with multiple fractures. It could be that truck I heard go by that may have just hit you at 90 mph, i didn't see it so I can't be sure. Because I can't

Seems a bit what? I really wish I could take you more seriously. There is undoubted, undeniable evidence that human factors caused this bleaching effect. Yes humans are doing it ALL. It is not up for debate.

It's not hard to change. If everyone changed what they do day to day (stop flying, stop eating beef, stop driving everywhere), we would not be talking about the future in such a bleak way. But everyone thinks they are the exception, it

Aside from the shock value of this, this underlines that there are feedback systems that we have kicked in. I think the science is not clear, we are still learning about the effects. Climate sceptics are right in a perverse way, we have no

Biggest mistake is thinking you have to "get" experience. I'm 42 and at the other end of the scale. To me the line now that "it's a good learning experience" and "I'll know better in the future"

i agree, the lack of mature debate in public this topic is something concerning. I think it comes down to our own ability to deny that the issue is actually real and pressing. Like a smoker, we act on impulse, then try to defend our logic.
