"Digital Euro"... Do people realize that maybe 90% of money is already digital, i.e. sitting as bytes and numbers on banks' computers ? It seems to me that the actual problem that the EU is trying to solve it to find a tech m

You disagree but you're wrong. Military context: a government would want to review the code and compile themselves. Provide a hash of the target binary to ensure they've compiled it correctly. SDLC: provide auditors with _proof_ t

I have seen AI projects to convert a tomography into actual 3D models. Not easily, but not an unexplored field either.

It is exactly the opposite for MPEG, which only specifies the decoder (i.e. how frames should be decoded).

There is this famous experiment with 9 monkeys in a room with a banana attached to the ceiling and a scale. First day, a monkey climbs the scale, gets the banana and is happy. Second day, they start spraying whomever gets on the scale. Monk

Always amazed by the mount of time, effort and skill that goes into this kind of prank :). (although I salute the attention it brings to an important cause)

This is Apple commoditizing LLMs while keeping control of the UX. They are a hardware company and will keep selling the best machine for AI use. Well done.

OpenAI actually never had a focus. Their VC pith was: once the AI is good enough, it will find our business model. They've raised money on that. With that said you are right, it seems OpenAI got numbed by ChatGPT's initial success

Why did they have to invent their own solution instead of just shipping docker or an equivalent clone ?

Spot on! I am also under the impression that the LLM tech is plateauing before bringing the promised productivity. Great as a coding assistant, great a summarizing a text, translating, great a helping plan a trip... But for the rest, e.g. a

One-year commitment won save their churn rate without vendor lock-in. How about letting you maintain a vibe-coded repo only with access to the context that led to it ?

This kind of company does not want "juniors who could independently own products end to end without handholding", they want do-it-all people on the cheap. They just don't know what it takes to do things the right way. It'

Some may criticize regulations, but the EU-mandated cyber-resilience act (CRA) actually forced companies to have a clear contact point for vulnerabilities reporting, and to act upon it.

I second this idea: LLMs will plateau. They are already pretty good. Plus, scientists struggle to actually score their performance accurately (esp. when it comes to reasoning). With that said, they are now hitting the walls of energy costs

If your purpose is learning, use paper. Studies show that it much more efficient than screens to remember information, as your brain physically maps where the info comes from.

Product-market fit, but what about customer retention? It is quite trivial to switch from using one model or another. Likewise, in a few years we'll have affordable laptops to run today's frontier models. What's their plan to

AI has already replaced a lot of workers, but there is still no AI-managed business out there, regardless of doomsday PR. I think that there is a misconception about what money is. It is a vector of value, and value comes from the work of t
