Known prions can’t cause an outbreak without extraordinary methods of spread, such as cannibalism.

Again self reported. There are no statistical limits on a story which may or may not be true and has no control over outside factors. This simply isn’t science - it’s a reasonable place to start for a hypothesis, but it’s not science. This

Self isolated and self reported improvements. Where did these studies come from? Relying on self reported anecdotes seems pretty far from science. Maybe it’s normal as a starting point - but it strikes me as the sort of bias science aims to

Maybe someone from the medical research community can comment, but the evidence here seems pretty weak. 4 cases, all self reported, where the patient is the one that identified the food additive when looking for such things. The chance for

Waymo has great teleportations and mediocre self driving. Their driverless is a far cry from self driving. I’d sure love to see some stats on % of maneuvers an operator has to take over and ratio of remote technicians to drivers.

Valve is the antithesis of Apple. Where Apple says it must be great, even if it can’t do everything, Valve says it must do everything, even if it’s not great. I see the same things that I didn’t like about the Steam controller here. Cramped

Yes, and I assume my reply will also be broadcast to my network. Even folks that agree are likely to see this sort of calling out as petty.

From why I’ve seen on LinkedIn, subtly doesn’t work. Folks that pick up on it probably spotted the BS already. You really have to hit them over the head with a hammer to drive the point in.

Multiple cameras don’t equate to stereo though. As I understand it, the Tesla cameras have too little overlap and the distortion is too great to do proper stereo - it’s 100% monocular depth estimation.

Doesn’t Subaru use stereo vision though? Having depth cues and not having them seems like a pretty big distinction, and Tesla just removed their only source of depth.

I think the point is that plastic recycling has never worked and there’s no pathway to making it work in general - regardless of investment.

I appreciate the story, but there seems to be a general theme of not doing enough research, diving into something, and then hitting a predictable roadblock. If the author had focused on his initial idea, he’d have something to show. Also, $

This is company dependent. I can speak from my experience on the promo committee of a FAANG. Visibility matters - it shouldn’t, folks are aware of this bias, but it happens anyways. However, it’s purely org level visibility that matters. In

In my experience, bullshit doesn’t exist in isolation. If his boldest claim is bs, then likely many other things about his story are. I’d even go as far as to question whether his career advancement was enabled by this behavior. A bit of ra

DuckDuckGo has this problem as well. I’m not sure what switching to a smaller company that does the same thing - albeit in a more privacy conscious way - helps. It’s not a Google problem, it’s a search industry problem.

Is DuckDuckGo better at this or just a smaller target people ignore? A couple quick searches didn’t turn up anything, but sure seems like they’re vulnerable to the same attack vector.
