By chance, I happened to stumble across this fringe programming language recently: https://www.unison-lang.org/ The way that it deals with dependencies seems to fix a lot of the problems that the author has mentioned.

There might be another advantage here for WASI: you could write a compiler for, say, VimScript and it would translate to this editor's APIs. Sounds like an interesting project to me.

I have a spare mini-PC laying around and I was wondering if any of these OSes might be fun to play with. I'm leaning towards plan9 and 9front. Plan9 seems like an engineering marvel, while still very simple (I've checked the sourc

One of the best programmers I know always say that QEMU is the greatest piece of C code that he has ever come across. It seems that there is some very cool preprocessor magic as well, but I've never dug any deeper than hearing him out

Well, the idea is to use the specificities of the machine you are running your code to solve a given problem. It's not supposed to be portable, although a god-like compiler might be able to implement those optimizations at some point.

I assume the same approach wouldn't be possible on iOS, since it seems very dynamic in nature.

Until Microsoft start putting ads and Telemetry in your shiny new WSL environment :) I'm seriously considering not upgrading to Windows 11 and just move back to Linux.

I've seen a lot more interest for this kind of tool in enterprise environments recently. Never seen this kind of interest before. I'm curious on how this is going to pan out.

I'd argue that it's well written, but not well designed.

I'm in a surprising situation right now: I've just inherited a huge, well written C# .NET project that's not generating much value to the business. Too much boilerplate, too much unused models and extensions. Things like that

I've learned to love newsletters after becoming a hey.com customer. Highly recommend the service. The newsletters become a sort of feed that's actually quite interesting to read.

How's the censoring story on PeerTube? The good kind of censoring, I mean. If I'm to use a decentralized service which provides me with content, I want to be able to sensor it against terrorist propaganda, child pornography and th

Maybe, or maybe Kubernetes is the new legacy and by 2025 most companies will be using managed services like Lambda. :) I'm a heavy Azure user and you can tell that things are not as well designed and implemented as AWS.

That most advice that you receive from your friends and family are mostly bullshit (well intended). Listen to your child's pediatrician and no-one else (at least in my case that's how things went).
