This looks really good. It seems to fix all the warts and moles in Lua that used to exasperate me and adds type-safety which is a huge enhancement. Replacing the 'everything is a table' with records, arrays and hashmaps is also a

The only thing forcing most of us to upgrade every 3 years is the fact that most phones now come with their batteries are either soldered on (in the lower end versions) or come with connectors (most often I think) but replacement requires p

Also in 'House of Suns' by Alistair Reynolds. The most revelatory idea for me in it was the idea of how a human being could plausibly become a near god-like entity. This isn't even the real premise of the book but a brief det

Blender's success is a lot due to how welcoming they are of new contributors. 15 years years back, this was the first big OSS project that I contributed to. Since I was a greenhorn, the patch I submitted (there weren't 'PR&#x

I don't think the scammers are using sequential iteration over numbers. I suppose it's more efficient to just call numbers exposed in a data breach. Your suggestion won't help circumvent that. I think.

This is fair, though in my answer, I wasn't answering the question from the perspective of applicability for a general audience. For a general audience, even Bitwarden doesn't pass the "grandma check". If you've use

I'd like to add to this. I signed up and paid for credits to access their API last weekend. All requests still get rejected saying I don't have sufficient credit. This is despite their dashboard saying that I do indeed have the re

Downloaded and checked it out. Looks great so far. Tried using it to read a bunch of regulatory PDFs using GPT-4o. Some quick and early feedback: 1. The citations seem to be a bit dicey. The response seems to give largely correct answers bu

Does it bother anyone else that the picture featuring the author shows a blackboard containing seemingly unrelated equations just to make it look "this-is-high-brow-complex-mathy-stuff-that-I-am-an-expert-in"? Why would someone wh

+1 to this. I remember my boss asking me to build a MacOS UI we had on Windows with this. I was very sceptical that it would go anywhere. But no, it worked. I was just open mouth shocked to see the GUI worked pretty flawlessly in Windows.

The older I get, I realise that the most joyful accomplishments are in building something reliable that is also useful to a lot of people. The tools/stack used to achieve this matters, but only so much.
