The data was from a cognitive assessment, not self-reported. There were some self-reported components, like do you have depression, anxiety, etc. But the measurement of cognition was not self reported.

Just because a percentage of the population is "non vulnerable" doesn't mean getting Covid is harmless. There are measurable impacts on cognitive ability: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/ar

Weren’t Japanese soldiers in WWII instructed to kill themselves instead of being captured to “preserve honor?” That doesn’t sound like the acceptance of failure to me.

Regarding point 1, the belief that the earth is 6000 years old is much more commonly held by evangelicals: Of all the major religious groups in the U.S., white evangelical Protestants are the most likely to reject evolution. Nearly two-thir

https://news.gallup.com/poll/1690/religion.aspx As of 2020, the number was 34% responding yes to "Would you describe yourself as a "born-again" or evangelical Christian?". In 2019, it was 37%,

I don't think so. The first thing to understand about US politics is that almost 40% of the population is evangelical. There can be no constructive political discourse with that type of demographic skew. In addition to the generally ir

Simply being wrong or misinformed isn't fraud in and of itself though. One could be incompetent, for instance.

Again, I haven’t read the book or know anything about the author. All I know is that this article is asserting the author of the book is a fraud. That is a positive statement, and insufficient evidence has been provided from my reading.

This article is claiming the author is a fraud. They should provide proof of that claim, just as the author should provide proof of his claims. I didn’t read the book, but I did read this article and the evidence of fraud is lacking.

This article is naming “fraudster of the year.” I think they should show evidence of fraud in this case.

I read some of this article. I have never heard about the color system in question. If it’s really a fraudulent system, it should be easy to say “The system claims thing X, here is evidence X is false.” Instead, this article is filled with

The GP was highlighting that 30k per year is very little to keep senior talent. I was adding some perspective to how little it really is after considering taxes at the highest bracket.

I’m not even sure what you’re trying to say. How would you, personally and right now, send gold to someone in the DRC? Using Bitcoin, I would just ask them to give me their Bitcoin address via email.

You cannot send gold securely to anyone with an address. Even in advanced, stable countries, mail theft is common. In countries with high corruption, you are very likely to have your gold stolen. Sure, you need the internet to send BTC, but

I think the broader point still stands: Hayek, or anyone else for that matter, doesn't really know the limits of rationality.

Hayek had a belief that society couldn't be engineered through knowledge, but that's far from a settled fact. With the rise of MMT, it may be that Hayek was largely wrong. Critical thinking would indicate that, while his argument

I think there are fair number of revolutionary things that you discount: 1) You can send it to anyone, anywhere without involving a middleman or needing financial infrastructure. How can you do this with gold? 2) You can "program"

Norway is not the EIC because they didn't enslave massive swaths of humans and start a war to sell oil, but Norway doesn't exactly have the moral high ground in the fight against climate change either.

“Russian oligarchs” you hear about so often in the news are essentially gangsters that pilfered the valuable assets from the collapsed USSR. Many different types of factories were taken and profited from.

The general process I’ve seen is to profile the application and look at what’s taking the most time. Then you sit down and think about how you could make the slowest parts faster. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to your question. Ben

This view is a little myopic. American Airlines just took on an additional $10B in debt. Guess what it was backed by? (answer: their loyalty program). The value of an enterprise takes assets *and* liabilities into account.
