Sadly, it's known that women do get paid less in one way or the other (based on bls data and other sources that confirms the same). But what's missing is more research & data as to why this is the case. Such data would make a

The problem is in your question and expectations. Your question is very vague while your expectations are very specific. The candidate has to be lucky to give you an answer that you happen to be expecting.

These are clean macros. Macros do have their place and not every time you see a macro your macro red flag should go off. It took me less than a minute scrolling through the file to figure out what's going on.

Not necessarily. It's not a good idea to assume that the library you are using is perfect and free of bugs. OSes and popular OSS libraries have ridiculous bugs sometimes.

Yep. Every few days the process was oom killed because of that. When we moved away from it and used OS sockets directly, everything worked fine.

But sometimes it's not just memory. It can be files you need to close, or any other resource held.

Exceptions are not about going from one place to another. It's about unwinding the stack properly and calling the destructors of variables on the stack. This is not a close emulation at all.

Technical debt is not an excuse to use the wrong tool. This is how you end up having a hammer. Cassandra was mature by late 2011 and we were using it in production back then (billions of records).

This looks like a big hack to compensate for using the wrong tool. Cassandra would have been a better solution IMO. With Cassandra, you can set replication factors, speed up the writes, and automatically shard the data without having to man

My intuition is that a Radix tree trie would make a lot more sense and is more maintainable than such a hack.

You probably missed out on the hacking team leaks. These actions are triggered by the leaks. HT was sitting on a lot of flash 0-day exploits. This leak was the best thing that happened to the web.

I just wish they integrated dtrace into linux back in the day. It would have received a lot of support and improvement. Now every platform has its own complicated set of tools. Even dtrace on osx is not the same as dtrace on freebsd :(
