I definitely think it’s inexcusable that the control center buttons are so misleading, but at least “Hey Siri, turn off Bluetooth” (or Wi-Fi) really does it.

How does this look like Apple? Google is far worse about obsolescence than Apple, and, afaik, always has been.

Everything of theirs is down. Not just the registers. I only use it to invoice my contract customers and I can't even do that right now.

You don't have to use iCloud Backup.

If it's possible to include (rather than exclude), you can: $ df /dev/sda1 /dev/nvme0n1p1 And get only those file systems.

And yet if you want your app to be listed on the iPhone App Store, it must be equally functional if the user denies location. So, I always do it, and have no problems, although sometimes it is slightly more annoying to use the app.

Because of this, I always buy a different brand as well.

This does work inside of rEFInd, which can load a kernel EFI blob directly, and supply it args.

I was about to bring up T-Mobile because fast.com shows AWFUL results for me, revealing that T-Mobile is in fact throttling Netflix.

> I think I didn’t mention -n in that post because at the time I didn’t know why the -n flag was useful (it’s useful because it turns off this annoying reverse DNS lookup that tcpdump does by default so you can see the IP addresses). Mea

I have chrome installed and just cast my screen, minimize it and keep using firefox. I also don’t own any chromecast devices anymore, so this only really comes up at Airbnbs, the odd meeting room, etc. I’ve heard you can do the same with Br

I last did this in about 2011-2012 and was shocked and/or pleased to discover many images on my friend's Xbox 360 dashboard turning upside down!!

Yes of course. Most devices on the Internet don't have IPv4 addresses.

If so, the pilot would have done better to keep his mouth shut. Why the hell would someone say that to a bunch of passengers who are presumably totally untrained in aviation?

[first bit removed because I was wrong] I imagine it is possible to do something wrong at the processor to make this not work, due to the device card number shenanigans you mention. But, are there really still processors who still do it wro

I guess that is true, but the IP address space today is so large as to be unscannable. Practically speaking, you have to have some evidence that some host is there before you can start prodding at that host.

You don't have to have an agreement with Apple or Google to accept Apple Pay or Google Pay. If the customer holds a Visa then the phone presents a Visa to the reader. There is no special thing you have to do to accept those payments.

No, no need for a warrant. If the cops ask nicely (as opposed to making a demand), and the provider provides the info, there was no need for a warrant. That is the common process today.

It won't shut it down. The cops aren't compelling or pressuring the providers to give the info. They're just doing it.

Sure, that seems like something that could happen. However, meanwhile, in practice, my friend was having a mental break and the cops narrowed my friend's location down to 3 possible houses in a neighborhood.

On Linux I expect one command to install the app. I don't want to download anything, use a web browser, or anything else.

I have moved to NanoPi. Raspberry Pi is dead to me after years of indifference toward the hobbyist and small business sectors.

Sure. I got seamlessly migrated from X as well, when I upgraded my Debian major release. I am not "that kind of hacker" anymore (hence running GNOME), so I was OK with this. Didn't even notice the change for a while.

That surely makes a bit of difference. But, I corroborate the ideas about the clients' differing abilities as well. We run Microsoft and Apple workstations at work, but for Wi-Fi planning reasons, we keep some cheap laptops around as w

I haven't stubbed my toe on the former yet, but I agree it's not great. I'm mainly storing media, photos, etc. (relatively not compressible) so the latter doesn't matter much to me. I think that's probably a common
