Labels are dangerous, and labelling yourself as a procrastinator will just make you even less likely to do the work you need to do. I think I get a lot of work done (solo game dev on my own), but I also re-organise my task list about every

I don't think a Yoga class really gives you any benefits if the tutor is not helping you or correcting your positions. All you need to remember is 1) know what muscles the pose is meant to be targeting and make sure you can feel those

As a solo indie game developer, who has to self motivate everyday, here's what I've found: 1. Programming is a completely mental/brain activity as you know, requiring no real physical exertion. So it should be easy to work on

I think this shows that the tooling is just as important, if not more important, when choosing a language. Good debugging tools are a must simply because things always go wrong, and if I don't have an IDE that can highlight the line fo

Perhaps the coolest thing about natural language is just how completely unstructured it is compared to programming languages (which are of course 100% structured). No one ever declares variables up front, tells you what state to record, or

You've missed a few major reasons as to why the industry is like this. Let me explain: 1. We don't re-invent everything, but the hardware keeps getting better and we want to take advantage of it. To do so requires rewriting large

The truth is Facebook pretty much has it all when it comes to social networking. It's UI design also speaks well to non technical people (read: most of the world), as it looks like a cluttered newspaper which people are familiar with.

I agree. If you read the news you are just informed about how the world is going to shit and everyone is corrupt or a killer. This really colours people view of the world and they end up leading a life of fear, whereas the reality is 99% pe

It is not currently, but the point I am making is the tech is coming in leaps and bounds, and I expect the next 5-10 years we are going to see something we haven't seen before; computers parsing semantic information from images, someth

Not my point. What isn't available to everyone is the sheer amount of real life images that Facebook has access to, which people are uploading of their lives as we speak. You could get an unprecedented view of almost anyone's life

Writing an 'engine' is just good code reuse - as I build my game I have 2 separate groups of projects: one is for the engine where I put generic game tools such as model loading, input handling etc - and the other group of project
