This is true but also not as new as the author claims. There have been various ways to abuse Google API keys in the past (at least to abuse them financially) and it’s always been very confusing for developers.

Dead on. GitHub Actions is the worst CI tool I’ve ever used (maybe tied with Jenkins) and Buildkite is the best. Buildkite’s dynamic pipelines (the last item in the post) are so amazingly useful you’ll wonder how you ever did without them.

This is true. If I see a Tesla I don’t immediately assume that driver is personally aligned with Elon. It’s a popular and good car. If I see a Cybertruck I’m extremely confident that driver approves of Elons antics and likely fervently supp

Everyone on both sides of this argument seems like they won’t be satisfied until everyone comes to their side. The maximalists want us to submit to the AI godhead. The doomers want us to go back to writing assembly longhand on paper. I’m st

This article has a pretty good history of how the research has evolved: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2025/01/13/why-is-the-ame... The latest conclusion seems to be that the deadly combo is ultra pr

It’s not recommending 4 to 5, but for larger people (I’m 200lbs) to hit their protein target I’d need to eat over 1lb of chicken a day which is a lot.

They really have “anthropics” not “anthropic” on GitHub? That’s a shame, it looks like typosquatting. If people are taught to trust that it’s easier to get them to download my evil OpenA1 package.

Are these protein guidelines legit? I’m 200lbs (I’m tall) so they’re recommending 100-150g of protein per day. That feels like a lot…

So did I. I was just curious if it would really be noticeable faster and … wow yes it is. It’s really nice to use. VSCode is still more polished and I’m going to keep it installed, but I’ve been using Zed for a month now and loving it.

With every passing year the New Yorker stands out even more. High quality long-form journalism and short fiction with minimal advertising (in the print issue it’s just a few at the front and one at the back) is very hard to find. I love get

It’s up to each author and publisher and the vast majority still use DRM. Science fiction and Fantasy authors (like the example you linked) seem to be most likely to not use DRM, but I don’t read too much of those genres.

I’m waiting for Bookshop.org to offer an integration with any hardware reader for most of their books. When they do, I’ll switch to whatever that reader is.

Yeah as much as I think that Tesla is full of shit, there’s no way this is true. I don’t know a single person that’s driven 500k miles lifetime but everyone I know has been in at least one minor accident.

I’m trying to leave the Kindle world. I’ve already stopped buying books on Amazon, instead getting them elsewhere and using Calibre to strip the DRM and sideload them. What I really want is a physical eink reader that can load books from th

They took a month to fix this? That’s beyond inexcusable. I can’t imagine how any customer could justify working with them going forward. Also … shows you what a SOC 2 audit is worth: https://www.filevine.com/news/filev

Kinda sad but LinkedIn has fulfilled the original promise of Facebook for me. Almost all the people I’ve met in my career and at school have a verified profile under their real name and when I want to reach out to them, that’s a place I can

For our coding interviews we encourage people to use whatever tools they want. Cursor, Claude, none, doesn’t matter. What I’m looking for is strong thinking and problem solving. Sometimes someone uses AI to sort of parallelize their brain,

I’m not totally against CTOs who code (I like having management that I respect technically) but it sounds like this CTO is pretty clearly doing too much coding and not enough CTO-ing. Posts like these show why the founding engineer is the m

On this topic I strongly recommend “The World I Live In” by Hellen Keller. In some of the essays she describes how before she was taught to communicate she had no inner monologue and didn’t even recognize herself as human. She was surprised

SF seems to claim the Beat movement as a whole. There’s a museum dedicated to it and the area around it has multiple landmarks which play into that as well (City Lights, Vesuvio). I never really considered before if that was fair.

Alaska guarantees bags within 20m of landing. It’s not impossible, most airlines just don’t give a shit because people tend to mentally blame the airport not the airline for baggage experience issues.
