It's unlikely that many are lying. The phenomenon of the "Herbivore Man" has spread and there are now signs of a similar trend among some women. The perspective behind all this appears to be: "If I get involved in a rel

While I am deeply concerned about the issue of privacy, my immediate concern regarding ads is keeping the ads distinct from other content. In other words, I want every ad to be instantly recognizable as an ad so I can more quickly choose to

Quite right. The movement toward a reconciliation between various levels of abstraction and observation is one (perhaps the greatest one) of the ways we know we scientists are "getting it right". Peter Watson's book "Con

I doubt it would meet the legal definition of fraud if it is true that features are removed rather than patched or if some sort of certification upstream of a given security patch is absent. But I'm not a lawyer so...

This is an example of a myth that just won't die. The Skeptics Society (to give but one example) has been trying for years to put this nonsense to rest: https://www.skeptic.com/insight/the-myth-of-learning-styles&#

I must say I'm puzzled by the author's choice to include environmental work alongside the arts/humanities as being examples of "follow your passion and starve". As a scientist working in the environmental field(s),

Unless I'm missing something, the article you linked to conflates anecdotes from America with statistics from England and Wales. Other problems abound in the article. Incredibly sloppy job on the part of The Atlantic.

I second that. I own a System76 laptop (Ubuntu 16.04 pre-installed) and an HP stream that I bought specifically to run POP! OS. I have also replaced several of my colleagues' OS with a Linux distro and I have yet to encounter a problem
