I see the same phenomena in response to Sam Harris. I would blame shortened attention spans for the misreadings (which seems the fashionable scapegoat today) but even other academics spout nonsense with regards to Pinker and Harris. I am, I confess, deeply puzzled by the responses I read and hear about these two (and a few others).
