My working theory is, that advertising is the overhead cost of doing capitalism. There is a certain percentage of resources which have to be spent on advertising to keep the system functioning. Google is good at grabbing a large portion of

As I understood it, the Sahara is not a stable system and can relatively easily be greened again.

One major consequence of flooding Saharan basins could be the death of the Amazonas rain forest, as it depends on Saharan dust. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygulQJoIe2Y

The discussion for this ticket started with 9€ so it's fair to compare the result to what they set out to achieve. 9€ would have been a revolution of public transportation. A major step to achieve the emission goals of ministry of tran

9€ or 49€ makes a huge difference. 1. For unemployed people and people in low wage jobs, 40€/month is a lot of money, and many will not be able to afford this ticket. Meaning they have to stick to single tickets, whenever it is unavoid

This is a new(ish) ticket. We had a 9€ ticket for three month ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9-Euro-Ticket ) which was a huge monetary relief. Sadly this is not continued, but as a consequence (due to high popularity of

We don't tax machines doing manual work either. One simple solution would be to stop taxing work and tax profits instead.

To put this number into perspective: > The average installed cost of wind projects in 2021 was $1,500/kW, down more than 40% since the peak in 2010. Lower installation costs lead to energy produced at a lower cost, with the average

First page of google already is like that for some searches. I searched for a lot of non-tech topics and the top results are often totally incomprehensible text which contradict themselves in the next paragraph.

I think we just ignited the AI Poisoning bomb. Future system will have a harder time to be trained, because their datasets will be poisoned. Wrote up my thoughts about this a few weeks ago when ChatGPT started https://blog.libove

Main benefit over alternative (e.g. networkx): Use all cores of your machine + lower memory footprint. I had problems working with a 24k node graph, which is why I created this library. For speed I want to try two things in the future: Barn

I've two models implement, one of which is the networkx model, which I would recommend at the moment. I implemented this because networkx was to memory consuming and too slow. Where networkx crashed with 24k nodes I was able to embed t

Currently I only use the peering information of instances. Instances are places close to each other when they are peering. As a next step I want to refine this as peering itself does not say anything about how much users of these instances

Thanks for the feedback. The library only calculates the positions and has no graphical output. As an example: I created this to build this embedding of Mastodon instances. https://h4kor.github.io/fediverse-explorer/

Have not used it with graphviz yet. There is an example how to use it in combination with networkx, which probably can be adjusted quiet easily. I'm planning to better integrate it with other graph libraries, but at the moment you have

Because there are no use cases for blockchains. Humanity spent billions (trillions?) of $ on this technology and there is no use for it. Now the people who sank their money into this, desperately try to find some fools to pass the hot potat

Same in situation in Germany. Polls close at 18:00 and 18:01 everybody knows the general results. It will only change by ~0.1% over the next 1-2 days and only really matters if a party is close to the 5% hurdle.
