I have no need to specify it for every download. I can move them when it's done and I won't lose where my download had gone to that way. Definitely not a regression.

People may be afraid to mention PHP, as "experienced" people laugh at it but in fact PHP is good that nothing beats its deployment speed.

Try parcel for bundling. It's basically zero config and fast.

Safe or not, people choose over productivity. Worst case, if it's popular enough, the nature of open source will handle itself and finds a new maintainer.

It's funny that some of these client side framework is wrecking the pages as if things are worse than 10 years ago from users' point of view. I visit a major credit card company's account page and it shows the last time I vis

Use Elixir only if this isn't going to turn into a team effort or you'll need your team to learn from the language. And coffeescript is taken over by other transpilers like TS and even ES6 and above. Check here for static site gen

Try to learn templating engines like 'pug' and 'stylus', if you haven't. Writing vanilla HTML is getting so old and overly repetitive and they do a good job of making you type a lot less. And also you should learn p

> just use Django (or Rails) What do you mean by "just use"? The OP seems to have a long experience and having had used Rails recently myself as a 20 years experience web developer, all I can say is stay away if you know the wa

I wonder but what had Ethereum achieved exactly to this day? Are they starting to optimize before reaching to some practical state? If the power consumption is out of hand when its usefulness is not, then investors are putting too much mone

It's not a magic and if detection tools don't support http/2, then it's their fault and quite frankly anybody could come up with this tool. The "enabled" attackers surely are nothing when they couldn't hav

This link is only 6 months ago. I don't know yesterday's state but I also don't know your definition of beta. I thought it meant quite ready for production use, just getting rid of corner cases. https://thenextweb.

Fact that without off chain transactions, it's not ready for any more transaction volume and Lightning is still very much alpha at this point. You don't see the instability, it's just people can't use it much more with t

I guess BSD and Linux were aiming to take the same position as OS where Bitcoin and Ethereum are not. No one sane would get Bitcoin staffed with complicated features beyond its simple purpose of keeping a decentralized ledger. Nothing else

I guess I try to switch to fish again as like you said zsh with 10 plugins takes so long to start a shell, like 5 seconds which feels forever when you want to start typing right then, that I now never quit the shell from remote machines but

Shell scripting finally feels sane. Just the normal "if" and other basic conditionals make you feel you want to switch. Some scripting example : https://nicolas-van.github.io/programming-with-fish-shell (I use zsh

How can detecting URL go wrong? It starts with an obvious prefix and ends at a line end or a space. If the URL contained a space that is not URL encoded, that would be user's fault.

Why not just use fish for scripting? That's what I do as zsh as shell works better for me as well. Shell scripting finally looks a little saner thanks to fish.

I assume Windows and MacOS use the term folder in place of directory, so at this point, I'm assuming it's generally acceptable to use either one.

What chance is there that grep doesn't exist on a machine that has ssh and cat? Having some undesired grep version could be one reason but not enough to justify piping everything before grep in the example.

Also it's suggested to use ~/.ssh/key to specify a key in your home folder to be a portable config and don't really need to show others what your user name is if it gets shared.

I see no benefit of running grep locally in any case unless maybe local grep is aliased in a complex way to colorize and decorate the outputs in some other way. Either way this is not a great example as you should just login and run it on t
