I wonder but what had Ethereum achieved exactly to this day?
Are they starting to optimize before reaching to some practical state?
If the power consumption is out of hand when its usefulness is not, then investors are putting too much money in it.
- marcosdumay 8y agoThey are pivoting into something that may be more useful. Mining is the bottleneck on bitcoin usefulness. ETH will have both different usage scenarios an one less bottleneck. (No idea if this is enough.)
- wmf 8y agoMining is the bottleneck on bitcoin usefulness. Can you elaborate? If you want to use Bitcoin, just buy it. Mining seems more complex to me (and more expensive since I don't have a hydro dam in my backyard).
- iSnow 8y agoEvery transaction in BTC is secured by miners - that's the whole reason mining exists in the first place. If you buy it and transfer it to your wallet, some miner mines that transaction into a block (and gets rewarded for that).
- marcosdumay 8y agoThe needs if miners set the maximum bitcoin transaction rate. The more miners that come, the less transactions it can sustain, and that algorithm can not change without the coin losing much of its value.
- sgarman 8y agoMy guess is these investors were investing in what it will become not what it is now. Isn't that the whole point in investing?
