Not really. "Pro-life" isn't a very accurate statement as the definition of "life" is not agreed. "Pro-choice" is accurate, as it denotes a position which is in favour of giving women the choice to abort,

Ugh this happens to me all the time, but on the other hand I'll sometimes be scrolling through a pdf with my trackpad, but typing in a pane on the left, so I do find it quite useful to have that split between kb/pointer focus.

When my PTR died, I thought I'd really struggle without it. I used to evangelise the idea of it, claiming the convenience of on-wrist notifications, fitness tracking, my diary to hand (I have a very busy diary), etc.. I realised a coup

Pebble smart-watches. I had them from the original kickstarter, and eventually had a Pebble Time Round which I loved. Whilst I now would never buy a smartwatch, I think that theirs were by far the best. Slimline, with a great UI, and nice f

These were certainly not the symbols we were taught at university (and that I've seen in most mathematics texts). We used: ∧ conjunction ∨ disjunction ⇒ implication ¬ negation ⇔ equivalence (bi-implication) ⊂, ⊃ &c. were for sets.

I have been wondering about this too. I'm pretty attached to my 2014 MBP (running macOS) but dislike the latest line of Macs (and want to have a linux laptop). I've been looking mostly at the new Dell XPS 13 range as they look rea

I really like my Patagonia Black Hole (25L) [1]. It's pretty robust, looks nice, and fits everything I need quite easily. I have used it for sport but it's really poorly suites for it as the back is not very aerated and it doesn&#

This is not really the point, the point is that the page loads anyway, without the AMP scripts so there's really no excuse for having an 8s delay. I don't want this google stuff on every web page I visit, and frankly it's unn

This is why I have µMatrix -- it's amazing just how many unnecessary requests it has blocked. I am constantly amazed at just how bloated (and carelessly built) websites have become.

This sort of assumes that (a) the only possible system is surveillance capitalism (I have no problem unblocking advertisers on sites which don't track me e.g. DuckDuckGo, I also have no problem paying for things directly -- in fact, I

µMatrix blocks everything that's not from the primary domain unless I tell it otherwise, which is sometimes annoying, but on the other hand lets me cut out loads of crap (hello AMP-project).

Like many others, I'm not sure DO's USP is being at the cutting edge. I like them because I get a decent amount of control, I have found their support to be quite responsive, and their products have always been very stable for me.

I use iwantmyname.com because I find their DNS configuration really simple compared to other registrars I have used. DigitalOcean for hosting, and as a business we use Cloudflare for DNS, but personally I just use the iwantmyname tools.

Of the things to learn when one is starting out, I would not put code modularisation and toolchains at the top of my list (especially for something so small). Additionally, this runs in Node, so you don't need to compile the source fil

This is true, but I think there are two factors which qualify this argument: 1) leverage / scale (a person with a gun can kill more people in a shorter space of time) 2) it is contended whether or not this is killing someone, whereas n

I was wondering if the slippery-slope argument really held. There's a fairly simply public-interest argument that could be made against gun ownership (see: dead schoolchildren all over the US), and this argument has been successful in
